YOU are the fuel to my fire. YOU will not stop me, and have only succeeded in pushing me even harder towards my goal of one day having locations all across North America. . Why is society so accepting of a âfemale onlyâ work environment when it portrays women as sex objects? Hooters can hire only women and no one blinks an eye, or cries that they canât be included, but the second itâs women who want to do a âmanâs jobâ everyone loses their mind. When we find our voice and become strong, suddenly weâre viewed as a threat. . Letâs clarify a few things here. Being pro-women DOES NOT mean we are anti-men. We have lots of amazing and supportive men who come around the shop to give us a hand when needed. Supporting women in this trade by having a shop thatâs completely women owned and operated DOES NOT mean I am a âfeminist man hating lesbianâ (yes, I have been called that A LOT). You want to cry discrimination but guess what? You donât know discrimination! Try being outright told you canât work here because youâre a women, or youâll be a distraction, or youâll just cause problems with the other employees, or that maybe you could be hired because they wouldnât have to pay you as much, or that you belong in a kitchen and you have no place in this trade. The worst part? You canât even talk about it because then youâre just labeled as crazy or too emotional, or a bitch. . What we are fighting for is a trade that will one day look at women as equals! We donât think we are better, we just want to belong. If I can help give even a few ladies the training, or support, or just a few words of encouragement to get them out there into this trade that thatâs all I want. We are fighting for your daughters, your sisters, your girlfriends.
