i read somewhere that selfies help with the algorithm. no sé pero, lo voy a intentar. Here with a piece called Heeled, 2012. 2 wooden high heels size 9 made by Tony, Gary and Richard Peyrefitte, under the watchful eye and advice of their father Ignatius Peyrefitte. The Peyrefitte family are master sculptors of the various woods of Belize. The father is the nephew of one Belize's biggest and most renown artists George Seymour Gabb M.B.E. a poet, playwright, sculptor, writer. His work changed sculpture in Belize by moving from Eurocentric features to Black and Indigenous features, which was a BIG concept and resistance in colonial and even post-colonial Belize. My concept was to make these life-sized heels that i would not be able to wear (these were modelled after a favourite pair, which were super cute but pinched like hell, plus i have an ankle issue from a while back. a guy ran a large plank over my left ankle and instep with his truck at a bdf fair back in 2011. So i hardly wear heels now though i love them so very much). This work was part of a larger research i was doing on high heels and their long history, origins and contemporary uses. #caribbeanart #artecentroamericano #belizeanart #sculpture #womxnswork (at Ladyville, Belize) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-u6MfRl8RI/?igshid=1wt6d8q6gim94
