The Wolverine Fire expanded to about 45 square miles this morning, and continues to threaten communities in Chelan County.
Earlier this week I photographed my journey to Stehekin, a remote community only reachable via ferry. The fire is a mile and a half outside of the community, and crews are using controlled burns and water drops to fight the blaze.
Fire officials believe these efforts will only suppress the fire, and only an extreme change in weatherโsuch as snowโ will completely put it out.
