Today was one of those days. With the moon being in two days, Remus had been short with Sirius. His boyfriend was used to that of course, and had artfully worked his way around it. Remus however, didn’t want to be coddled and had snapped at Sirius.

So then they had some sort of Being Silent And Ignoring Each Other War going on. You’d call it a fight, except for the fact that Remus didn’t handle Sirius being far away from him very well so close to the moon. So Sirius–Remus honestly didn’t know how he ever had managed to fix someone so sweet and caring–kept close. They’d held hands. Sirius’d even invaded Remus’ space from time to time, because he was ‘angry’, but meanwhile giving Remus the perfect opportunity to calm a little with his scent.

After a full day of lessons, they weren’t even really mad anymore. So when Sirius dragged Remus to the seventh floor as soon as they could, Remus could only smile.

Remus watched how Sirius walked past the wall three times, curious what he was conjuring up. In the end, a normal looking door appeared.

Sirius took Remus’ hand again and dragged him inside the room of requirement.

Remus had to admit Sirius had outdone himself. The room was cosy, not too big and no space left empty. The case of books, combined with various plants, made the room smell like old paper and tea, both parts of both their amortentia, although where Remus associated them with the library and his mom, Sirius’ reasons were obviously a little more relevant to the situation. The hearth was burning softly, a very comfortable sofa standing in front of it. A record player stood in the corner, playing softly.

When Sirius worked Remus on the couch, nestling against him, Remus couldn’t help but reach out for him too.

And when Sirius apologised, he did the same.

And when, after a while of just sitting there, enjoying each other's company, Sirius reached out to kiss him, Remus reacted with just as much enthusiasm.

“So…”

“So…”

“Here we are”

“Apparently”

“Should we…?”

“I guess so… we’re here after all”

“The I guess you should open the door”

“Yeah, yeah, just…”

“Sirius”

“Yes Remus?”

“What the fuck are we doing?”

“I guess… going on a romantic date? Like everybody else?”

“Sirius”

“Yes Remus?”

“This place is… pink”

“Yes”

“Too pink”

“I mean… I guess?” 

“Sirius”

“Yes Remus?”

“Are we really about to go drink tea at Madam Puddifoot’s?”

“I… guess? Isnìt this what a date is supposed to be like?”

“I-I don’t really know, I’ve never really dated before”

“All the girls I dated wanted to come here to have a romantic date”

“Yeah, but did you actually enjoy it?”

“Not really, but I didn’t even properly like them, not like I like you”

“Sirius”

“Yes Remus?”

“Do you want to go to The Three Broomstick to drink a butterbeer?”

“Gladly”

“Let’s go then, love”

“I love you so much, Moony”

Just as he thought he would have reached safety, Remus felt the stairs moving under his feet.

“Moony!”

Fucking moving staircases. 

“Moony, wait! Merlin, I’ve been trying to talk to you for the past ten minutes! Will you just stop running from me?”

“I’m not running”

“Oh so that was what? Walking rapidly?”

“Sirius, what do you want?”

The staircase was moving painstakingly slowly under their feet.

“I just wanna talk to you, you’ve been avoiding me for the past week! I wanna know what I did!”

“And then what, Sirius?! Pretend like nothing happened? Forget we talked about it like you do every single time? Act like you were drunk the night before just because you don’t want to face reality?!” 

“Moony…”

“Oh don’t ‘Moony’ me, asshole! Don’t pretend like you don’t know exactly what this is all about! Every single time you kiss me, and make me believe that finally, Finally you’re gonna do something about… about this! About us, about whatever the fuck is going on! But noooo. The great Sirius Black is too above feelings, too above ties to just fucking stop and realise how much he’s hurting other people! And I’m here like an idiot, falling for it every single time! Well, I’m tired, Sirius. I’m tired of being you fucking puppet, I’m tired of being you emotional punching bag, who you go to whenever the weight of hiding who you really are gets too much. I’m not gonna let you ruin me just because you’re too much of a coward to accept who you are.” 

“Remus, please. I-I didn’t mean to hurt you, I swear! It was never about you!” 

“Oh it wasn’t? Really? So why would you crawl back to me every time?”

“That’s not what I meant!” 

Sirius shot his hand up in an apologetic way

“I-I just don’t know how to deal with… this”

“With what, Sirius?” 

Did the fucking staircase stop?

“With you-Us! I don’t know what it means, I just know that when whatever it is gets too much, you’re the only person I want around! Moony I’m begging you to believe me! I never meant to hurt you.”

Remus could not stand to look at his face, even in the scene they were causing in the, fortunately, empty staircase, Sirius did not give any kind of answer to Remus, just more questions. 

“So I’m just a what? A distraction? A way to get some weight off your chest?”

“What? NO! Merlin Moony no, you’re more than that, you know it.”

“Do I? Realy? Then what am I, Sirius? I am tired of being your dirty little secret. I am tired of the glances, and the winks, and the flirting, and the secret hook ups that you never mention the following day!” 

“YOU’RE THE REASON I CANNOT STOP FAKING ANYMORE! Please Moony, I always thought I could have hanfìdled this… thing in me, but then you came along, and I knew I was done for. I cannot control myself when I see you. The thought of waking up and not being able to touch you, hold you, kiss you… I’m desolated Moony, I never meant to make you feel unworthy or dirty, it was all about me, I thought I was taunting you, infecting you with whatever I had, and the voices in my head made me feel disgusted with myself after every secret rendezvous. But the truth is that I want you, Moony, more than anything in the world, I’m begging you, just- just let me…” 

Sirius was gripping the marble handrail so hard that his knuckles were white, tears were starting to form in his eyes and he was gripping his chest with his left hand, desperate for Remus to just turn around and look at him. 

Slowly, oh so slowly, Remus turned to stare into Sirius’s eyes, red rimmed hazel staring into stormy gray.

“No more secrets, Padfoot. No more pretending and no more girls. If you want me, you have me, but you gotta take all of me.”

“Yes, yes Moony, everything, please.”

“Happy Birthday, dear Siriussss, Happy birthday to youuuuu” The Marauders cheered, for the tenth time that day, at Padfoot, who had been beaming the whole day. 

The four boys had snuck out that night to celebrate Sirius’ birthday at the Hog’s Head, because the grumpy owner, and the sketchy customers, would have never snitched on them with their professors. 

“Oi Abe! Another round for the birthday boy!!” Cheered James, who was the more enthusiastic out of the group. 

“Yah, yah, just stop singing that fucking song.” 

The grumbling barman started pouring them four fire whiskeys, James and Sirius were sure that Aberforth was secretly very fond of them, since they’ve been coming to his pub for years. 

“So, how old is he now?” 

Said the man while handing them their drinks. 

“Seventeen! He’s finally a man!” Peter, enthusiastically. 

“Oi, you lot! you’ve been claiming to be of age for the past two years, you goat heads!”

“Oh come now, Abe, it’s too late to care about it now, and moreso, you don’t wanna kick out four loyal drinkers, right?” 

Sirius stepped in, his usual cokiness amplified by the fire whiskeys he drank during the night.

“Why do I even care?” Grumbled Aberforth while walking away.

The Marauders kept partying and being mildly annoying for the rest of the night, until the only people left in the pub who were still conscious were just Sirius and Remus, in a happy haze, swaying in rhythm with the soft underground wizarding music playing in the bar. 

“So, did you like your birthday, birthday boy?” 

Said Remus, his mouth blowing warm breath on Sirius’ ear

“So much Moony, thank you” 

And he hugged his boyfriend tight, hiding his smile on his shoulder. 

“I love you so much Sirius.”

The Gryffindor quidditch training had finished, and the whole team was taking their well deserved showers while playing, joking and having some classic locker room talk. 

It was (unsurprisingly, if you ask Sirius) James who started on the Significant Others topic, much with his teammates dismay: “I am just saying,” kept on James with his superior tone, while flapping his hands around (like a maniac, if you ask Sirius) “That Lily Evans is NOT ONLY the brightest witch of all of Hogwarts, but also the prettiest, funniest and overall just the best!” 

Everyone in the locker room rolled their eyes, used to their capitan’s antics.

“Sure Cap, whatever you say…” said an exasperated Fabian while ruffling a towel over his hair.

“You are all just jealous because your partners are not as amazing as mine!”

“If that's any consolation James, I totally agree.”

“Thank you, McKinnon” the captain was relieved to finally find someone to agree with him

“In fact, I would gladly snog your girlfriend, if the occasion ever rises, seeing how beautiful she is.” 

“Hey!! Snog your own girlfriend, you thief!”

“I will, gladly, as soon as I get out of here, bye bye Cap!”

“Oi, MCKINNON, IT’S YOUR TURN TO CLEAN THE SHOWERS and she’s off…”

Sirius couldn’t contain his laughter anymore: “Honestly Prongs, you’re so smitten with Evans, you’re embarrassing.”

“Oh, you’re one to talk, padfoot? Seriously?" 

“Well, I’m always...”

 “Don’t!!” everyone shouted in unison, making Sirius roll his eyes. 

“What I was about to say, before being so rudely interrupted, is that I don’t know what you’re talking about.” 

Sirius turned his back and kept fixing his hair

“Ooooh really, so you wouldn’t know anything about moongazing at night, talking to the Moon, and waxing poetic about a certain Moony, who is so amazing, sweet, kind and…”

“STOP IT, YOU TRAITOR!!” Sirius shouted, jumping on James and tackling him into the ground. 

“Ooohhhh who knew it, our Sirius Black has a soft spot for his boyfriend” Laughed Gideon with his brother, while the rest of the team snickered. 

“Oh fuck off guys” said Sirius, still on top of James 

“I’m not soft, I’m considerate, thank you very much.” 

“Yeah, considerate, is that what you call when you quite literally melt at the sight of Moony drinking tea in the common room? Or Bribing the elves so that he could have fresh sheets in his bed EVERY DAY, or making sure that his chocolate drawing is always full, or…”

“OKAY, OKAY I GET IT, SHUT UP YOU FOUL BACKSTABBER” Still on top of him, Padfoot kept wrestling with James, surrounded by his teammates laughter. 

“Who’s a foul backstabber?” Suddenly Remus appeared at the Locker room’s door, looking quite taken aback by the scene unraveling in front of him. 

“Prongs is! Moony, let’s go, they don’t deserve my company, unlike you.” 

Sirius, at the sight of his boyfriend, jumped off his capitan and rushed to gather the rest of his things, taking his partner’s hand while strolling away. 

“Moony, your hand is too cold! Here, let me warm them up for you” Sirius’ voice slowly faded in the background. 

“See? Soft.”
