Running a coffee shop gave one the unique perspective of observing interesting characters. Quite a few different people came to her shop (after all, everyone drank coffee, and if they didn’t, Marlene’s served tea as well), but Marlene firmly believed that after a year and a half in this business, one could pick out a customer and imagine what their dynamic and aura must be, and one would most likely be right.

@wolfstarwarehouse: without a doubt the best place to go if you’re looking for fic recs etc. make sure to check out their index and tag page if you’re looking for a fic with something specific in there. Their ask box is currently closed, but when it’s open you can ask for fic recs or get them to help you find a fic.

@wolfstarhq: Also a fic writer on ao3, wolfstarhq’s blog is a real mix. As well as posting their own original content, they also are a good place to find other creators content. Plus you also get to interact with them if that’s your thing, and they’re just all round good person.

@captofthesswolfstar: As well as posting and reblogging great content, she is also a sort of mum to the fandom, and you will often see her blog filled up with asks for advice (as her advice is amazing). But don’t let that fool you, she’s also an amazing fic writer and I would definitely recommend checking out We Were Infinite on ao3.

@jencala: Another fic writer, who’s fics feature heavily in my all time favourites, her account is a hub for all the quality wolfstar content. She, along with the others mentioned really liven up my dash and make scrolling through tumblr such a get experience.

I read through this fairly quickly. Not my usual trope but definitely enjoyed it and wanted more with each chapter.

Sirius and James are the American Football team stars, Remus and Lily are marching band nerds (but let's be fair, they're all complete nerds really). Remus has transferred to the school after a difficult time in the last one.

N - Is there a fic you wish someone else would write (or finish) for you?

Literally all my unfinished fics. I can’t believe I have to do actual work to finish fics myself, this is such bullshit.

Q -How do you feel about collaborations?

Love the idea, though in practice they give me so much anxiety. I was unbelievably lucky to be paired with @artymakeart for WSBB who is not only a terrific artist but a genuinely lovely and supportive person to work with. Despite that brilliant experience, I’m still nervous of collabs, in no small part because I know I’m a crotechty bitch who’d be a nightmare to work with. 

T Any fandom tropes you can’t stand?

Yeah, I’ve answered this, what of it? Another thing I hate, hate, hate is the female character being introduced purely to explain Feelings to Silly Boys. Lily gets this a lot in MWPP fic and it drives me batty. Let her have her own life!

V If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?

W: general, because I am the pickiest person on Earth and everything has to fit my Very Specific Take on the situation or I’ll be uncomfortable and cranky.

Why I like them - Lily’s a fundamentally good person with a heart of gold, but she’s not a plaster saint and I love that. She’s bold, sometimes argumentative, and cheeky as well as being talented and kind.

Why I don’t - There’s nothing about Lily I don’t like, except for her fondness for cutesy nicknames. (Wormy? Really now?) I’m not a fan of how she’s treated by canon a lot of the time, and often fandom doesn’t do any better tbh.

Favourite scene - Lily explaining to Snape why they can’t be friends after he called her a “mudblood”. She’s very clear that it’s not a one-off, more the straw that broke the camel’s back and that she’s tired of making excuses for him. There’s an unfortunate trope in romance stories sometimes were a girls friends and family hate her boyfriend but that narrative says they’re all wrong. Sometimes it does work that way but sometimes - as Lily’s come to realise - when the people who care about you dislike the boy hanging around you there’s a very good reason for it.

Favourite line - ‘I wouldn’t go out with you if it was a choice between you and the giant squid’ -I know it’s quoted to death, but I love how ridiculous it is, like Lily can’t even deal with all this bullshit.

Favourite outfit - Idk, what does she even wear? I tend to picture Lily in A-Line skirts and nice but sensible shoes. Just a touch of hot librarian vibe but subtle.

OTP - Lily/James really, although I’m fond of Sirius/Lily for wrongbadness, and a spot of Sirius/Lily/James. I wish there was better femslash options for Lily but it’s sadly slim pickings.

Brotp BFF for life - it’s annoying that we don’t know about Lily’s female friends, even though she must’ve had them as she was hanging out with a bunch of girls at the lake. For her canon friendships, it’s Sirius & Lily all the way - I’m glad she has one relationship that’s mostly about someone supporting her, rather than how much emotional labour she does for other people - men, actually. The glimpses we get into Lily’s friendship with Sirius are all about her trusting him with her only child and relying on him for practical and emotional support. He never disses her or puts her down, even when he might be expected to, like when she tears one off James. Male-female friendships where the dude respects the woman are A+.

Head Canon - Lily was a very active, outdoorsy sort of child. She was in the Brownies, did gymnastics, played hockey and liked going for long walks in the countryside. She loved being a witch, and found the existence and possibilities of magic a constant delight.

Unpopular opinion - The Remus & Lily bff-ness so beloved in R/S circles is largely for his benefit and does Lily few favours. It’s significantly less prevalent in Jily and other Lily-focused works, in which Lily is generally friendly with Remus, but not at the expense of her other relationships.

A wish - More Lily content in general, please. Especially more about Lily being her own person and having stories that belong to her, beyond her being kind and supportive to dudes.

An oh-god-please-don’t-ever-happen - She started the series dead, so I guess it’s all uphill from there, right?

9 (In your xxx fic, what’s your favourite scene that you wrote?)for Personal Investigations

Probably the scene where Tonks and Fleur are searching Regulus’ flat, and Tonks has to hassle Fleur into doing some actual Auror work instead of just snarking about the wallpaper. Some silly jokes followed by feelings, just how I like it.

30) In contrast to 29 is there a story which gets lots of love which you kinda eye roll at?

How dare you, all my stories are amazing and deserve endless love! No, really, I’ve never had a popular story that I’ve really disliked. I was surprised that A Star, Singing got as good fb as it did - I like it but it’s very silly and insubstantial so I didn’t expect much of a response.

37) What’s the funniest story you’ve written?

Well, I’m consistently hilarious so this is a very hard question.  I think I’m gonna go with The Testing of Daydream Charms, which I know you particularly would love because it contains your secret favourite ship! ;D
