#Repost from my great friend, conservationist and cofounder of @sealegacy @paulnicklen @download.ins --- Treetops bend, buffeted from the powerful wind whipped up by a helicopter carrying armed mercenaries as it dips lower to the ground – the wolf they have been tracking via radio collar is returning to its pack below. The mercenaries wait until its mate and pups appear at the mouth of their den, then pull the trigger. When the gunfire subsides, the "Judas wolf" stands alone, spared so that it may lead these hunters to the next slaughter. Proponents claim this senseless cull, paid for with taxpayer dollars, is necessary to restore the caribou population throughout BC and Alberta. I disagree, and so do the scientists who point to overhunting and significant habitat loss as a consequence of oil/gas development and industrial logging as the real culprits. Once again, humanity demonstrates its knack for indicting a convenient villain rather than recognizing the one in the mirror. Instead of declaring war on innocent animals for problems we have caused, let’s take responsibility for our role and find real solutions. My friends at @raincoastconservation and @pacificwild are doing excellent work to save these wolves – visit their bio links to find out how you can help. We must end the needless slaughter of our precious wildlife! @wildlifevoiceinc @jim_abernethy #bc #alberta #wolfcull #barbaric #senseless #unscientific #saveBCwolves https://www.instagram.com/p/CCGafg1pBko/?igshid=1iiwysgx704i2
