wolf pack
I want to ask a question about wolves relationship. I know a small wolf family may be a pair and their cubs. And a pack may consist of several families. A couple can be very closer to each other. I want to know if a wolf can make friends with other wolf which is in same sex (like two male or two female) and without kinship? Someone told me two male wolves without kinship don't stay closer, they hardly muzzle each other. Is that true?
Yes, wolves can make friends with another unrelated wolf of the same sex and show affection to each other.
Just as all other animals, some wolves are gay, which could result into two unrelated wolves being together and showing affection to each other. But wolves don't need to be 'in love' with each other to be close with one another. Two unrelated wolves of the same sex can be 'just friends' and be very close. Showing affection is really something in a wolf's nature, they are very loving creatures. Though there is a difference in the amount of showing affection to each other between a wolf couple and two unrelated friends.
It also really depends on what you understand by being close. Muzzling each other mostly is a sign of affection, but it can also be part of showing submission.
