Prompt! Skittles + Shelter from a Storm
âJust a little further, Stiles.â
The human groaned dramatically, leaning more weight on his friend and hobbling as he tried to keep up. âIâm gonna drown here, Scotty.â He gasped as the wolf swung him up into his arms maiden style, picking up the pace as they raced through the woods. If it had been any other day, Stiles would have squawked indignantly and smacked his friend until heâd been released, but with his sprained ankle already twice its normal side and the rain blowing in horizontally through the trees, speed was more important than pride. This whole mission had been a bust, this is what they got for letting Derek talk them into some stupid werewolf meeting miles away from civilization. Itâll be good for the pack, Scott. We need to make alliances with other packs, Scott. He could practically hear Derekâs stupid voice in his head. No one listened when he said it was a bad idea. Sometimes Stiles hated being right.
Negotiations had gone south when the other pack had wanted to take the True Alpha of Beacon Hills with them like he was some sort of door prize and didnât seemed to like it much when Stiles told them to fuck off. The McCall pack could have taken their rivals if it hadnât been for their emissary. Stiles had never seen power like that before, the day had been sunny and mild before the first bolt of lightning tore itself out of the sky. Scott had thrown himself on him, knocking them both to the ground as earth exploded around them. The rolling thunder had left him deafened, ears ringing as he tried to clear his head enough to think. The wind had picked up moments later, rain pouring down cold and heavy enough to feel like they were under water. The pack had scattered and Stiles hoped theyâd been able to find shelter. Most of them were fast enough to get away from the unnatural storm, but Scott wouldnât leave his best friend behind, especially when Stiles twisted his ankle so badly he could barely walk.
âScott?â
âIâve got ya. Hang on.â The wolf couldnât get a scent, he was barely able to breathe in the downpour. They were hopelessly lost and there wasnât time to stop and try to figure out their location. The only thing Scott could focus on was finding shelter before they were struck by lightning or worse. The rocky hills were a good place to start, there had to be a- yes! A small cave, more a shallow hole in the rocks than anything, but it would be good enough for now. He slipped and skidded on muddy leaves as he rolled them both into the temporary shelter, Stiles grunting in pain as he knocked his swollen ankle.
âWeâre not gonna get eaten by a bear, are we?â Stiles tried to find the humor in the situation as he slid down the rocky walls and sat in the dirt, dripping into puddles of mud around him. âI really donât think I can handle a bear on top of everything else today, Scotty. Iâm at my bear-limit. In fact itâs-â
âDonât.â
âYou could say itâs-â
âStiles no.â
âUntenable. I was going to say untenable. Give me a little bit of credit, not everything I say is a pun and I can use SAT words too. Iâm the one who helped you studyâŠas unbearable as that was. Okay, I couldnât help myself!â
Scott huffed a laugh, breath misting upwards as he plopped down beside Stiles in the mud. He was soaked to the skin, clothes clinging to his body and icy cold. He hadnât been prepared for this, they had no blankets or dry clothes, his cellphone was a waterlogged mess. He hadnât even brought his lighter with him, not that he could get anything lit when it was this wet outside. The cave didnât offer much protection either, the stone was chilled and the wind still managed to find them where they huddled together. If this didnât let up soon, they were going to be in some real trouble. He wrapped his arm around his best friend, pulling him close to share whatever warmth they could between them. âYou okay?â
âHonestly? Iâve been better. Nothingâs trying to eat us which is sort of a pleasant change.â Stiles couldnât stop the full body shiver that cracked his teeth together. âTiny bit cold too, bearly noticeable.â
Scott pulled the other boy closer, wrapping Stiles tightly in his arms. Wolves ran hotter, maybe if they found a better way to conserve their body heat, they could wait out the storm. âBetter?â
âMmm.â Stiles just hummed, pressing chilled purple lips into Scottâs neck. âShould have brought a poncho.â
âOkay, next time we meet with a rival werewolf pack, Iâll be sure to pack a poncho.â
âYou laugh now, but just you wait.â
âReal ponchos though, not the garbage bags my mom used to make us wear when we were little.â Scott promised, resting Stilesâs hands against his chest. The fingers were already dark and trembled with the cold as Scott blew on them, trying to get blood flow back into the humanâs hands. Minutes stretched into forever as the storm battered against the stone with no sign of letting up. The wolf found himself dozing, lulled by the cold and the incessant drumming of the raindrops before snapping himself awake. âStiles?â
The other boy only murmured, face buried into the crook of Scottâs neck. He was so cold heâd stopped shivering and the alpha panicked, cupping Stilesâs face in his hands. âCâmon man, wake up. Stay with me, Stiles. Itâs got to be almost over and then we can go home, okay? Iâll wrap you in so many blankets youâll look like a burrito and Iâll make you hot chocolate too. Does that sound good? Please, Stiles. I need you to stay awake. Stiles!â
___
It was hours before Stiles finally opened his eyes, his face feeling swollen and his joints so stiff that it hurt to move. His clothes were still damp, but he was warm, wrapped in something soft and comfortable like an overlarge electric blanket. He was alive! Something had kept him from freezing. He tried to focus his vision, blinded by the bright white that seemed to surround him. âScott?â The boyâs voice sounded raw, croaking like he hadnât used it in days. The warmth shifted slightly and Stiles found himself staring into a familiar pair of liquid chocolate eyes set in a strange animal face. âOh, my godâŠâ
He knew it was Scott, he could tell just by the worried expression in the wolfâs eyes, but everything else seemed feral and Stilesâs heart lept into his throat. Long fangs inched out from the beastâs lip, black nose twitched inches from his face. Then Scott had to ruin everything as his tongue lolled out of his mouth in his best doggy grin, tail thumping excitedly in the dirt as he licked Stilesâs face.
âEW! No, Scott, no. Ugh, this is so gross. Youâre the worst wolf ever, bleh.â Stiles laughed, knotting his fingers into the coarse white fur and buried his face in the wolfâs scruffy neck. âYou actually did it!â Scott pinned the giggling human down, flopping dramatically on Stilesâs stomach until he oomphed. âOkay, I surrender!â
âScott? Stiles?â The call was distant, but Stiles immediately perked up at hearing his name.
âRescue squad is here, bro.â He smiled, scratching Scott behind the ear until the wolfâs eyes rolled in pleasure and pressed his face against the wolfâs muzzle. âThank you, buddy. Letâs go home, youâre starting to smell like wet dog.â
Scott snorted and licked Stilesâs face again for good measure.
I just had a thought like imagine those dogs as wolves that are Scott and Derek in full shift and Stiles is blowing bubbles at them just to watch them chase them. Scott loves the bubbles they pop against his snout and Derek stands at a bit of distance side eyeing him
[Photo here]Â
Stiles laughs, shaking the wet piece of plastic and blowing another bubble at the two wolves standing in front of them. Lydia crosses her arms. "Stiles, I don't think this counts as training," she says.Â
Stiles watches as the iridescent bubble floats towards the tawny brown wolf that is Scott's gorgeous full shift, and Scott snaps at it playfully. Another bubble floats past Derek's snout, and Derek turns, bounding after it. Scott jumps up and chases Derek and the bubble down, yipping happily, and Stiles is happy to oblige them with more bubbles.Â
"'Course it is," Stiles says. "Hand-eye coordination -- er, paw-eye? Coordination and all that."
"Right, well, I'm going home," Lydia announces. "You gonna stay?"Â
"Yeah," Stiles says, watching Scott and Derek chase each other, the waves of easy carefree happiness rolling off of them. Derek slinks down to the ground, tail swishing back and forth, watching calmly as Scott lets the bubbles pop against his snout, tongue hanging out. "Be as silly as you wanna be, dudes. You've earned it."Â
Yoooo, what was going on with Scott's were'face this episode??? O_o
My theory is that Scott's starting to come into (more of) his powers as an Alpha, and the "extra" face was a glimpse of his Alpha-form-to-be.
From the Argent bestiary:Â âSometimes Alpha werewolves are able to take on various forms. Generally, they take on the form of a full fledged wolf. However, depending on the character of said Alpha, their form can range from completely normal looking wolf to a monstrous beast.â
So we know that Talia and Laura both were able to shift into a wolf, and Peter's form was kinda gnarly.Â
I'm hoping that the wolf we saw in the mid-season trailer will be Scott's full shift form. ^_^Â
DONE!
Well this took forever , but i think it came out pretty good :>

imagine running wild in the woods with wolf!scott during the full moon.
No human right
When Allison starts to come through, she hears voices of two boys arguing. ["She smells nice.â âWell, duh, youâd eat her in a different circumstance. Come on, we're supposed to meet Lydia at sun high.â âYou can go on without me; I'm going to make sure she wakes up okay." "No, stupid wolf!" "Ouch! You bird brain! My tail is sensitive!" "If you wouldn't let it be chewed..." "Shut up! Her heartbeat's changed, she's waking up."] Allison opens her eyes a sees two boys, or two animals... Her vision is blurry and she sees fur and feathers, but also skin and clothes. ["Who are you guys?" They both watch her for a long moment, the darker haired boy dumbfounded and the other calculating. The latter says, "This is Scott and I'm Stiles. Who are you? Do you know where you are?" "Allison," she responds. She sits up, looks around the leafy ground. Her empty quiver is beside her, and her bow has snapped in two. Allison picks it and examines the damage; it was gnawed, big toothy gouges deep in the plastic that surrounds the metal bearings. "I was chasing a raven," Allison says. "I tripped and fell. I should be heading back home,â she adds, glancing around the scenery. She canât tell which way she came from. âWould you guys happen to know the way?â The two boys stare at each other, communicating with comical eye expressions. Finally, Stiles huffs and rolls his eyes before turning back to Allison. âI do,â he says, âbut its getting dark. Weâll have to wait until morning so I can see the way. Weâre pretty far in.â Allison quirks an eyebrow. âWonât your parents be worried?â Something niggles at her: the village isnât that large, and she knows almost all of the kids her age. Sheâs never heard of this Scott or any Stiles. Stiles shakes his head. âNah, we practically live here.â That gets her, then. âAre you two from the other side?â The other side of the forest. No one in Beacon knows the name of the village, and anyone who leave to investigate never come back if that isnât strange enough. âYep.â Stiles stands up and tugs on Scottâs ear until he does the same. Scott winces. âWe have somewhere to be.â âYou can come with us,â Scottâs quick to add, eager. The other sighs and puts his hand over his face and Scott gives him an irritated look. âShe has no where else to go, Stiles. Do you expect her to be here by herself until morning?â âSeriously? Scott, its not like we live by ourselves.â When Scott gives a clueless shrug, Stiles swipes him behind the head. âSourwolf, stupid wolf.â Allison feels uneasy with them arguing about her shelter for the evening. âIf its a problem, if Stiles can take me as far as he can, Iâm sure I could find my way.â âNo, no, no!â Scott latches on to her arm urgently and Allisonâs eyes widen. âNo, its not safe at night! There are bad wolves out there and Stiles canât do much against them! Itâll be fine, I swear, Iâll talk to Sourwolf myself, okay?â he addresses Stiles. Stiles eyes are narrowed at him. âI swear if he bites me because you gave him an attitude, Iâll do more than pull your tail. I might claw your eyeballs, that sounds fun.â Allisonâs eyebrows rise. âYouâre very strange.â Sheâs given a wry smirk in response. âYou donât even know.â He leads the way, Scott at his elbow as Allison follows some behind, but she could have sworn he asked, "Hey. What's a Scott?"]
It's time to run with the wolves, Stiles.
