This is a representation of a hallucination/vision/prophesy Simon experiences where he essentially sees his own death at the hands of a 'demon' trying to tear a bullet wound in his stomach open further.

When I set about making art for this fic, I gave myself the rule that every piece has to be drawn from the POV of a character in that scene, and it's really forced me to get better at drawing in perspective. I'm honestly really proud of the perspective in this piece :]
Soap from my WIP fic "Watch out for False Prophets" where Simon grows up in a cult run by Roba and Soap is an Outsider and a 'demon' who helps him realise Outside doesn't want to murder him. His antennae wiggle a lot when he's anxious about something and I wanted to animate what I want it to look like. It's a safety mechanism, they're searching for scents that could indicate a threat.
He can also hide them away by flattening them down against his scalp, which is something he did for most of the time he and Simon knew each other, so he could hide them under the hood of a cloak.

Art for chapter 9 of my WIP extreme slowburn, heavy angst, ghoap fic. Simon grows up in & eventually escapes from a cult run by Roba; Soap is an Outsider who helps nurture the seeds of doubt in Simon's mind. This chapter goes into the aftermath of Roba punishing Simon's dad for beating him too hard, because only Roba is allowed to hurt people that bad.
Simon's dad and Roba do NOT get on.
Simon's dad 'moved' to Mexico when he was 18 (aka he went there on holiday/gap year, "fell in love" with a woman he met there, joined Roba's cult because at the time he actually liked Roba's teachings, moved to their new compound and just never went back to the UK, so he's there illegally).
All that makes it even more difficult for him to leave the cult again than it is for some of the other members. He'd abandon his wife and children in a heartbeat, but he has no family in Mexico Outside, no money, no easy way to get a job, no way to get home really. He still hates Roba though. The only thing the two of them agree on is that they both want to hurt Simon in some way.
This art's for a chapter which covers the aftermath of Roba punishing Simon's dad for beating Simon and Simon's mum 'too much'. Only Roba is allowed to hurt people as badly as Simon's dad hurt him and his mum a week before the events of this chapter take place.
Simon's dad's punishment was being tied up in the compound's central Square and left there for a week (though he was fed and watered, and untied morning and night to go to the bathroom), hence the bleeding sunburn. His beating Simon and Simon's mum so badly was the entire reason that this punishment was created and in the future it becomes the highest form punishment the cult has, reserved only for people who break the rules really badly, or those who "attack" Roba in some way.
When he's 18, Simon himself goes through this punishment and only makes it out with his life because a couple of other people in the cult realise that this time it's gone too far and care for him behind Roba's back.

Simon gets in big trouble for thinking he knows better than Father/Monsignor Manuel (Roba) & trying to warn him of a threat to his life, because Simon is far too kind for his own good, even to people who do NOT deserve it.
