uhm…if I had to narrow it down, I’d say wolf or just a domestic cat. But honestly, if you give me a general animal like canine, feline, reptile, amphibian, avian…..I have a favorite animal from each .___.

It was late. A little bit too late for her to stay awake right now. It was passed midnight, and she had finally turned 21. She yawned, knowing she should go to sleep but she couldn’t. If she fell asleep, she might miss a very important call she had been looking forward to all day.

He promised her at midnight, on the dot. But it was already 12:30. He was running late, and that worried her just a bit. Maybe he was busy? He had been working hard a lot recently. She looked the world clock in her phone, it was 3:30PM in Seoul; who know’s, maybe he’s in the studio. Maybe he just lost track of times writing lyrics. Or maybe he was in a last minute meeting.

But she was tired. She was exhausted actually. She was going to stay up a little bit longer to wait, and even reply back to her friends and family via twitter and text but her eyes were heavy. And her bed was just oh so comfortable in the position she layed in.

In a quick second, sleep had overcame her.

She woke up with a jolt as the doorbell of her apartment rang. She sighed, cursing the sun for being up. It felt as if she had only just closed her eyes for a few seconds. She threw the covers off of herself and bitterly climbed out of her bed and grabbed her glasses.

“Coming!” She chided as the door rang again. She opened the door, and she gasped a bit at what...well, who...was at her door. “What are you doing here?” “Good morning to you too, Lacey,” He said. His voice, although deep and rough, was gentle. Damn he looked good. His frame was quite slim and tall, but he had this rugged appearance to him. It was amazing how he could make the simplest clothes look incredibly stunning. A light blue denim shirt and dark jeans complimented his style well. “I guess you didn’t get my message?”

After letting him inside, she walked back into her bedroom and retrieved her phone from her side table drawer. She looked at the screen, and in fact he did call her last night. Probably some time after she fell asleep. Tucking her hair behind her ear, she unlocked her phone and listened to the voicemail.

“Happy Birthday my love. I’m sorry I’m late, I lost track of time. But don’t worry, I’ll make it up to you soon. I wish I could hear your voice right now, I definitely could use it. Listen, I just wanted to tell you something. I could wait until you wake up but...I think this would a nice surprise for you when you wake up in the morning. Look….I don’t think I tell you this enough but….I love you. And I know it’s hard, with what we’re going through right now. Sometimes I wish I have you here with me again. Hold you. Kiss you. I feel like….I’m not doing enough to show you how much I love you. Listen...you’re the reason why I keep going, do you know that? I can’t...I can’t imagine not having you in my life. You inspire me to do better, every single day.You give me the greatest hope I could ask for, and I don’t know how I could ever repay you for what you’ve done for me. I don’t deserve a woman like you in my life, but I thank God every day that I do. Please...don’t forget that I love you. I’ll see you soon.”

Lacey didn’t know what to think at this point. She couldn’t register her feelings she was feeling at the moment. She even forgot Yongguk was in the room until he wrapped his arms around her waist. She hung up the phone and tossed it on her bed. She sighed, laying her arms over Yongguk’s. A tranquil feeling filled the room as the older rested his chin on the smaller one’s shoulder.

Funny. She would get asked what she wanted for her birthday, and although she would either tell them not to get her anything, or meaningless items that would probably get lost in a week, the one thing she really wanted was for her and Yongguk together for her birthday. If that happened, she’d never ask for anything else.

But she never thought it would actually happen.
