Before his girlfriend brought him to a taping of Wednesday Night BeatDown two years ago, Michael Karnes (pictured left) had no idea how awesome professional wrestling could be.
Michael is now the president of the official FTTR fan club, and tonight, he shares his first memory of FTTR as part of the "View From the Top" fan stories series.
Michael Karnes:Â "When my girlfriend told me that she bought tickets to see Wednesday Night BeatDown and that I had to go with her, my first thought was that I was being forced to spend an evening looking at guys in tight underwear, grabbing each other.
I was very surprised that the show was much, much more than that.Â
The first thing that struck me as I walked into the arena was the spectacle of it all. The ring was huge, the lights were bright and colorful, and the arena was alive with excited energy. As soon as the show began, I knew that I was destined to be there. Every match was larger than life and each athlete, especially FTTR champion CM Punk, put everything that they had into their performances. I found myself being absorbed into the show, and when it was over, I knew I had to get involved with it somehow.
A few weeks later, I got in contact with Paul Heyman, the advertising agent at FTTR, and together we created the official FTTR fan club. Today, I proudly run the club and I will continue to do so for years to come."
