⼠This was just a fun idea since Iâve been reading lots of fantasy headcanons, I wanted to try! Plus I donât see too many for magic-y stuff out there so this gave me a good idea!
⼠Also! Most of these are female centered but some of this can be for boys too! I just prefer the term wizard because it sounds cooler lol. But thank you! Enjoy!
Storybook Wizards đ¤
Usually has an owl or sparrows as a companion.
Quills are made from barn owl feathers.
Wands are made from cinnamomum trees, elm trees, or hazel trees.
Likes to feed the crickets that sing on the bookshelves. Some think itâs gross but theyâre very nice!
Uses golden wax seals for nearly everything.
Collects old trinkets they find or receive from friends. They donât work anymore or are just old, but has tried fixing them up.
Loves both books & scrolls, but thinks books are easier to hold onto. That one friend who decides to read one more chapter, but ends up reading all night.
Loves to wish on stars or dandelions but is too embarrassed to tell anyone.
Seems like a bit of a hermit, but is actually really friendly! Loves to interact with people & exchange different interests, quite talkative at times.
Either works at an archive or some kind of library, has a special little key that works only for them.
Weather Wizards đŠď¸
Usually has a bird of prey as a companion, but donât worry theyâre friendly đ đ
Quills are made from crow feathers.
Wands are made from maple trees, pine trees, or baobab trees.
The ultimate bird parent!! Birds love them & theyâre always putting out bird seed feeders or scraps of veggies.
Lives alone in a tall tower in the middle of the woods. Only goes to town when necessary & will turn into a grumpy pants if you knock on their door.
Sometimes storm clouds or rain will swirl around their house, usually due to spell testing or potions.
The weather is actually pretty nice when theyâre around! Cool breezes, clear skies, warm sunny days; tries to deny itâs their work until the sunshine gets brighter.
Collects clean water in mason jars or glass bottles when it rains.
Likes to climb rooftops & chart the stars.
Can always sense when a storm is approaching, doesnât matter what kind theyâre spot on. Likely their job is to keep them at bay as a guardian or lookout.
Love Wizards đ
Usually has a dove or a type of songbird as a companion.
Quills are made from white swan feathers.
Wands are made from cherry trees, camellia trees, or jasmine shrubs.
Has an easier time communicating with fauna.
Ladybugs are automatically attracted to them & will usually bring good luck to them throughout the day.
Stores their potions in old perfume bottles but will make perfume as a small side job. Has to label everything though.
Has a small rose bush growing outside of their window; likes to talk to it & believes plants have feelings.
Super affectionate! Either the mom friend or the cutsey clingy child friend.
Never forgets Valentineâs Day!! (Iâm sorry I know it was last week!) Goes over the top every year & everyone either gets a bouquet or a little goodie bag. The size of the gift depends on who you are sometimes.
Business is a postal service for relationship problems but gets a lot of love letters to proofread. Gets a bit embarrassed receiving one addressed to them.
Swamp Wizards đ¸
Usually has a crane or even a heron as a companion. But sometimes that makes it hard to get them in the house...
Quills are made from duck feathers.
Wands are made of mangrove trees, dogwood trees, or lilypad stems.
Defined as the oddballs of wizardry. They are known to travel a lot but usually live alone.
Uses an old timey ferry boat to get around, but has to use magic to get the paddle wheel moving. Itâll creak & stop like an old engine.
Probably the most experienced in floral/nature magic & their house is like an absolute jungle. Will even let moss grow out because âit wants to be there.â
Has tried more than once to kiss a frog & see if itâll turn into their true love, but carries medicine around just in case.
Really loves wildflowers & will set up cute bundles in their home to make it smell good.
The best cook in the world but mostly uses magic to help.
Probably the friendliest person youâll meet! Will tell all sorts of stories about their travels, the different kinds of people theyâve met, where to find the best berry bushes, how to care for tadpolesâ It might be awhile before you can introduce yourselfâŚ
Every school of magic is directly tied to a main drive and a set of traits that allows certain wizards to be more compatible with that type of magic. The school a wizard is most compatible with is chosen as their main school.
Storm and Myth - Curiosity/Knowledge
Storm wizards are driven by the curiosity of how the world works. They tend to make the best scientists and explorers. Their pursuit for knowledge however can make them reckless, but they arenât afraid to try something over and over again regardless of how many times it fails. And boy do they often fail spectacularly, but their thirst and curiosity eventually brings powerful results.
Myth wizards are on the opposite end on their quest for knowledge. Where storms question how it works and how can they make it work, myths ponder how could it work and what if. They make great artists, writers, and philosophers. They love to read stories and dream up new ones, and are often said to always have their head in the clouds. Their constant pondering and excitement for the unknown makes them especially compatible with the school that allows them to summon creatures often thought to be a myth.
Life and Death - Love/Compassion
Life wizards are one of the most rare yet most powerful wizards considering they can nearly cheat death itself. Life wizards are truly altruistic and wish the best for everyone. They of course make the best doctors and healers. Their true selflessness makes them extremely uncommon and treasured, however they are the most practiced secondary school since many people feel some love and compassion towards others.
Death wizards are also primarily driven by their love, but in a different fashion. The best comparison would be to say that life wizards would sacrifice one person to save the entire Spiral, while death wizards would sacrifice the entire Spiral to save the one person they love. Deaths can succeed in all manners of careers but tend to choose more lonely professions. They often see their strong attachments to people as a weakness. So they usually try to distance themselves, gaining themselves the reputation of being creepy loners and selfish. Â However that isnât the case, they simply see the reality of things more clearly and recognize that you canât save everyone or cheat death forever. Therefor recognizing their strong desire to protect as weakness.
Fire and Ice - Passion
Fire and ice wizards are some of the most populated schools because their main drive is passion itself. While their passions can vary greatly, itâs what takes first priority in their life. Fire wizards have a general overall lust for life and can change their focus as easily as a shift in the wind. However whatever their current focus is, is what pushes them forward. They often end up a âjack of all trades but master of noneâ. Theyâre easily excited and swayed, but never do anything halfway.
Ice wizards are also driven by their main passion in life, however they tend to have much more focus than fires. An ice wizard can focus on one thing for their entire life and be perfectly content. Thatâs not to say they have to, but changing their mind is no easy task. Theyâre extremely focused and stubborn, and can easily get consumed in their work and forget about other responsibilities.
Balance -Peace/Harmony
There are two types of balance wizards, a combination balance and a pure balance.
Combination balance wizards are wizards who donât fit perfectly in one school, they often find themselves equal between two or more. This makes this type of wizard extremely unique as they cannot fully train in any of their chosen schools but have to find a harmony between them that can result in new and interesting types of magic.
Pure balance wizards are the most rare and potentially most powerful wizards. They are the only balance who can use balance damage spells (that canât be trained as a secondary school), however they are completely peaceful wizards. They take no sides and promote complete peace and harmony. They prefer to take small non-assuming roles in society and spend their free time advocating peace.
Astral
Astral schools are open to any who want to learn them as they simply advocate enhancing ones self and magic.
Shadow
Shadow magic is extremely fickle and can easily enhance negative feelings and take over. As a result, after Morganthe opened the way for other wizards, an extremely extensive vetting system was put into place before allowing any student to pursue shadow magic.
