Double Trouble; Chapter Four
Calums POV
Michael and the purple haired girl stood in the middle of the room, she looked as if she was about to rip his head off and frankly if she tried I don’t think any of us would bother to try and stop her. After about a few minutes Ashton finally stepped up, cautiously putting himself between the two “how about we all just start over?”
Michael rolled his eyes before letting out a sigh and stepping back, mumbling under his breath. Though neither his nor Ashtons actions seemed to phase the girl, so Hannah stepped up slightly tugging on her shirt before she finally stepped back. The two of them throwing themselves back onto the beanbag chairs.
The one with short brown-ish hair stepped forward, her eyes carefully scanning the four of us, she crinkled her nose a bit before she finally spoke up “So, let’s get this straight. You lot own Hi or Hey Records. Which means we, work for you”
"No don’t think of it that way" Ashton spoke up, looking over to us for some back up. Reluctantly I sat up, hoping I wouldn’t immediately regret bailing him out "Look, we think you guys, er girls I suppose, are pretty damn badass alright? And we know how controlling bigger record labels can be, I mean we’ve been there. And we don’t want people to try and change you."
"But why can’t you wrap your simple minds around the fact that we do not like you boys?" All of our eyes darted over to the girl with purple hair once again, who was lazily thrown on the beanbag chair her eyes still focused on the ceiling rather than any of us.
"You don’t even fucking know us though" as excepted Michael was the one who responded to her, which seemed to have already become routine for the two.
As she started to sit up, Hannah let out a sigh holding her arm out In front of the other girls as to tell her to pause for a second. “look both spikey hair over here and Laila have a point. No okay, we don’t know you; honestly I’m not even sure any of your names or what your part in your band is. But what we do know is that in every fucking interview we’re constantly being compared to you. They’re basically telling us that we’d be nowhere if people didn’t think we were girl versions of you all. I mean do you know how shitty that is for someone to say you’re where you are because of some boy band, rather than the fact that you’ve worked your asses off since day one and that people genuinely like your music”
You could see the obvious frustration on her face as she spoke but I still couldn’t help letting out a small chuckle, which just got me a mixture of confused stares followed by one very deadly one.
"You all don’t get it. We know exactly how you feel. If you bothered to learn one fucking thing about us you’d have known we have a lot more in common than you think. So how about instead of just fucking writing us off, you actually give us a damn chance yeah? I mean either way you all are stuck with us"
"Fine." Hannah mumbled "But just until we find a way to get ourselves out of this stupid mess"
The boys and I exchanged hopeful glances, before Michael spoke “Great, so I guess now we just figure out who’s who exactly” His eyes then darted over to the one Hannah called Laila, a smirk on his face “but I think we’ve got a pretty good idea so far”
The next few hours were spent with the eight of us exchanges stories, or in Laila and Michaels case sarcastic comments.
We learned Emily was literally the equivalent of Ashton, she was just as happy and cheerful as him if not more and just like Ash she was also the drummer. Sylvia was the baby of the band, but also the lead singer; she seemed to just take in the whole situation trying to figure out just how she’s handle all this. Then there was Laila, she was a force to be reckoned with; Every sarcastic comment Mikey made she was right there spitting it back at him with no hesitation. Finally there was Hannah, she was quiet for the most post; but when she spoke it was usually something funny or important. I thought she was great to begin with but the second I found out she played the bass and was in both soccer and track, I decided she was damn perfect.
I think the more we talked the more the girls realized we weren’t that bad, and the more I realized how drawn to hannah I really was.
She sat opposite from me, lounging back in a lime green bean bag chair every time someone would get into a long boring story she’d start twirling her hair as if it was the most interesting thing in the world. Whenever she was asked any question she’d bite her bottom lip as she sat there trying to find the words to say. Every now an then she’d glance my way and scrunch her nose, crinkling her forehead just slight and sticking her tongue out at me, whenever she realized I was still staring at her. I wanted to get her away from the other girls, I felt like having her around them would only make her defense. And more than anything I wanted to know what was going on in that pretty little head of hers.
"I think we should break into smaller groups." I finally spoke up, all eyes in the room automatically snapped up to me. " I mean we know the girls obviously sound good together but I mean we need to figure out how they sound individually so why not break into smaller groups? Ash and Emily, Luke and Sylvia, Michael and Laila; then me and Hannah. So we know the instruments and we can get an idea of what were working with."
"Wait, you want to leave me alone with that idiot? Are you sure that’s a good idea?" Laila finally tore her eyes from the ceiling as she sat up furrowing her brows together
"Actually.. I think this could work" Hannah looked over to me, an unsure look In her eyes "we’ve got to work with them. So may as well just start over now. Right?"
The others nodded in agreement “Yeah, we can make this work.” Emily smiled, looking around at the mixture of doubtful and hopeful stares.
After a few seconds we all started breaking off and heading to different rooms. Ashton and Emily, to the recording room. After arguing for about three minutes Michael and Laila grabbed their guitars and head towards the game room. Luke and Sylvia awkwardly stood in the middle of the room looking between me and Hannah. I decided to give in and let them have the meeting room, slightly tugging on Hannah’s shirt for her to follow me.
"Alright lil pup muffin where are we heading?" She so nonchalantly asked, skipping just a few steps ahead of me. I couldn’t help but chuckle at how carefree she was. She was something new, something I wasn’t expecting to find in an industry like this. Something that I wanted to figure out, memorize even. After a moment she cleared her throat pulling me from my thoughts.
"To the roof. It’s my favorite place in the building"
"Lead the way pup muffin" she let out the smallest giggle as she stepped to the side, allowing me to lead the way.
I couldn’t wrap my head around this girl, all I knew was that I wanted to get to know her. I felt the need to know everything, from where she grew up to something as small as what her favorite color was. She was like a new song, something I wanted to practice over and over until I perfected it, until I knew all the pauses and breaks, the slowed parts and the huge break downs. And once I set my mind on something, I never backed down.
