Witchcraft and Heartbreak
Falling in love, in my experience, changes you, changed your power and your personality in ways I never imagined. I felt strong, able to face the world, like there was a fire burning inside of me that just lit me up from inside. And then I got my heart broken.
I was told that I’d lost my spark, and they were right. It was like my magic was gone, I couldn’t feel the wind on my skin, or thunder crackling above me. I was deaf to the voices of the earth, my tea leaves looked empty, I couldn’t feel the wild thrill of casting a spell humming in my blood. In short, I’d lost part of myself, something I’m only just beginning to find again.
This isn’t a warning against love, or a theory on the connection between love and witchcraft, it’s a reflection on the fact that, as a witch who’s magic comes from my emotions so strongly, heartbreak had an unexpected consequence.
