Carrier Oils in Witchcraft!
So. I make a lot of witchy oils! It's fun and has versatility. There's a lot of room for creativity as well! But something I was curious about was if carrier oils had any properties that could affect the end results, and after a lot of research over several months it turns out there are correspondences for carrier oils!
Obviously these aren't set in stone, everyone has their own correspondences and some people might not have access to every kind of carrier oil out there, but here is a general list for your reference!
Sweet Almond Oil: Ruled by Mercury and the Element of Air. Sweet Almond Oil makes a great carrier oil for blends that deal with prosperity, money and wisdom.
Apricot Kernel Oil: Ruled by Venus and the Element of Water. This makes a great carrier oil for blends that deal with love or emotions.
Avocado Oil: Ruled by Venus and the Element of Water. This makes a great carrier oil for blends that deal with love, lust or beauty.
Castor Oil: Ruled by Mars and the Element of Fire. Castor oil makes a great carrier oil for blends that deal with protection and absorbing negativity.
Fractioned Coconut Oil: Ruled by the Moon and the Element of Water. Fractionated Coconut Oil makes a great carrier oil for blends that deal with purification and protection.
Grapeseed Oil: Ruled by the Moon and the Element of Water. Grapeseed Oil makes a great carrier oil for blends that deal with fertility, money, and strengthening mental abilities.
Hemp Seed Oil: Ruled by the Moon and Saturn and the Element of Water. Hemp Seed Oil makes a great carrier oil for blends that deal with healing, love, psychic ability and meditation.
Jojoba Oil: (note: lasts the longest in terms of shelf life/freshness) Ruled by the Moon and the element of Water. Jojoba Oil makes a great carrier oil for blends that deal with healing and love.
Olive Oil: Ruled by the Sun and the Element of Fire. Olive Oil makes a great carrier oil for blends that deal with healing, peace, fertility and protection. In many traditions Olive Oil is an all purpose oil and can substitute any other carrier oil for blends.
Sunflower Oil: Ruled by the Sun and the Element of Fire. Sunflower Oil makes a great carrier oil for blends that deal with protection, fertility, health and wisdom.
Vegetable Oil: (note: typically the cheapest, but has a much shorter shelf life span than other oils) Could not find a ruling planet or element. Vegetable oil is oil that is extracted from various types of fruits, seeds, grains, and nuts. If you only have vegetable oil on hand you can consider it an all purpose oil like Olive Oil. Around 80% of vegetable oil is made of Soybean, said to promote psychic awareness and spirituality and is great for financial gain and abundance of any kind.
