Typical Witchy Shit that I Don't Do
The things on this list aren't necessarily written in stone. I have no objection to doing them, or to anyone else using these in their practice--I just either haven't gotten around to it or didn't find it useful in my practice.
Ā I felt the need to make these things public, because sometimes We feel like we have to do all the witchy things all the time, but frankly, there isn't time for all of them. So, if you haven't gotten around to being a master at astral projection or what have you, here's a list to show you that I am right there with you.Ā
Ā Now, I don't object to crystals, and a few have found their way into my practice (citrine, anyone?), but I don't devote almost any time or money into them. I have my two quartz "amplifiers" on my altar, and that's about as much as I use them. I'm open to this changing, but I think they'll just show up in my practice as necessary, without seeking them out. Even then, I'm probably still going to call them "fancy ass rocks."Ā
I wish that I had a moral reason for not using sage, like appropriation or endangerment, but before I became versed in the ethical issues surrounding sage, I didn't like it. It's quite simple: I think it smells like butts. I can't meditate to the smell of butts. I don't feel like my house is cleansed when it smells like butts. Seriously. Butts.
Ā Give me some palo santo, and let's roll.
Ā 3. Past Life RegressionĀ
It's not that I don't believe in past lives, per se, it's just not on the scope of my practice right now. What matters to me is the present. Where am I at now and how do I get to where I want to be? The past just doesn't seem as important. Perhaps this will change, but who knows.Ā
Ā It seems like every 101 book you find gives some outline or ritual for tool consecration. My philosophy is that you consecrate a tool in order to tell the tool or to have completely in your mind that "this thing is for woo only." For me, my tools are consecrated simply because I use them for their purpose and use them for that purpose only. I cleanse 'me and use 'em.Ā
5. Runes/Magical Alphabets
Ā I don't use magical alphabets. I either make a sigil or just write in down in my vernacular. In my mind, using a fancy alphabet disconnects me from the intention, so I don't use them.Ā
So there you have it, my five common witchcrafty things that I don't do. What are some typical witchy things that haven't made it into your practice?
