I am delighted for the things I wanted that never came because they kept my hands empty long enough to receive something I never thought to ask for, because want is loud and impatient and sure of itself, but need is wiser and it waits, and it knows better than you do what you are actually ready for.

And life has never given me everything I wanted, but having that said, it has never once failed to give me exactly what I needed.

"Thank you for makin' it harder, I learned to keep my head above the water, Because of you, I will always be a survivor, Boy, it was worth it, yeah, I'm wiser, From the mess you made, I feel no pain,"

Another year older

still no wiser

They told me that

I'd never make it this far

Yet, here i stand waiting

to fall over

again.

If one doesn't get you

the next one will

Repeat perfomances

grow stale very quickly

So sit beside me as

my head caves in

again.

Blow out the candles

before there's a wind

So many candles

as the forest grows dim

Where will I be

at the next year's end

Another year older and none the wiser

again.
