Never underestimate the lengths I will go to learn how to model a dome with pointed arches in sketchup. Mark my words
(I am not even an architecture student. I just want a 3d model of my fantasy setting.)

In the process of creating a map for WIPI, I've accidentally developed a hyperfixation on continental drift and global ecology. Every few days I move onto a new part of the world, I have to say, I am enjoying every second of it.
How have I never found all this interesting before? I could have known this love sooner if I had only opened my eyes!
It's funny because I've always considered myself a happy ending kind of person. I like happy endings, my poor heart needs them.
So, it came as a huge suprise to me when WIPVII ended bittersweet. Isolde ends up stuck in that marriage she spent the whole book running from, but at least she made some friends along the way, and there's hope...
WIPXVII (my new project) seems to be going in the same direction. I'm still working out the outline, but there has never been, and never will be, any version of this story where the main character gets what she wants. No matter how the outline turns out, fundamentally, this story is about rot beneath the shiny veneer of giftedness. The only way it can end is with rot or with the pain of letting go of a dream.
Come to think of it, WIPI is also going to end in the freedom that comes from a tremendous sense of loss... the loss has to happen, but the whole point is that it's hard (hence why the timeline of this damn WIP spans several thousand years).
I haven't gotten to the point of knowing the ending in any of my other (14 official) WIPs yet, but it will be interesting to see if this pattern holds.
