Yllidith rework tease except not really because so far he didn't keep anything from this first version except the flies. I'm so deadass rn. But!! I remembered that I put him on the trashcan so very fondly so have a lil peek <3 Also something something sign of life the reworks are still happening y'know

I actually made an au where the wizards had joined Yilidth's wizard cult as novices and one task that he made them do was babysit Duman. Imagine the chaos😂

I think I have given my thoughts on him before, but that was both a while ago and I didn't appreciate him as much as I do now, which you can tell 💀💀 very angry very rambly stuff over there- So let me give some more/updated thoughts!!

Him being underused and shoehorned is still very true, unfortunately. He could've been a super handy tool to give us more information about the whole Terrestrial conflict, since that was an interesting part of canon that might have benefitted from a bit more exploration, even if it was a bit late. But then he just. Wasn't?? He was announced, he came, he died?????? And that was the first and last we saw of him. Honestly deranged boooo yucky.

He never even got to interact with the wizards again- You could literally say he was just some random criminal that had been locked away and almost nothing would change, and that's really his main problem. Aside from his design. I mean, love a blank canvas to throw a bunch of takes at, but come on!!!!!

Him and Duman's relation was never really mentioned either, I don't think? Beyond the "He was the leader of the fairy hunters!" there's really um. Nothing. Like in general. Ask canon Yllidith their names and he'll give you a blank stare fgbhbn- Tbh I'm surprised Duman's even in the lil flashback thingy at all ngl

Now, can we call any sort of relation implied? Are we gonna give them that much credit? Well idk! I'm just personally a fan of it so I just kinda. Squinted real hard. Matching eye colour? Mhm. Hair colour? Sure kinda. Yllidith having illusion magic and Duman being a shapeshifter? Yep that lines up enough for me, that does it, they're related now. Some people see the vision, others might not- I've spoken to plenty of people who aren't a fan of the take and that's a-okay, just know that I very much am 👉👈

This is a. Surprisingly consistent thing for me too?? Like yeah there's a case of "it depends on what I'm doing", there usually is- But not to a large extent ig? The method varies, but in a lot of stuff I'm doing now there's definitely a relation in one way or another.

Usually Duman is more or less made from scratch, a magic'd up baby, if you will. Though the process did include Yllidith's blood, so you have enough wiggle room to still say there's a blood relation. (Duman wouldn't.) (Yllidith only does when it's convenient.) But I've been getting the urge to explore a more normal approach where he was just regularly born lately, so maybe I'll get to that at some point too.

(Quick extra bit: any theories on where the wizards lived while serving Neruman? Because I could never tell if they lived in his Dark Dimension Castle thing, or if they just hid out in Gardenia again.) Thank you!

Ngl of all the characters with relevance to the remaining 75% of the Black Circle comic wise, Neruman has definitely done the least for me? Which might be a little ironic because he's like the whole reason the wizards were even freed to EXIST in the comics?? Idk he just doesn't get my creative juices flowing like Yllidith and Gregory do y'know- Despite having more relevance than both of them. I really am just attracted to cardboard huh. Hm.

But aside from that!! Yeah no, I don't think the word 'willingly' is even allowed in the building rn.

Tbh the wizards really just dealt with hit after hit, loss after loss. They went from nearly done with a centuries lasting job, to losing one of their own and being locked up, just to be freed and forced to work under him to repay a debt that really won't be until some guy says so, who abandons them anyway later on and lets them get locked away elsewhere. Had the wizards been in even a little bit of a better state, emotionally and magically, at any point during this, I don't think working under him would've gone on for as long as it did, if even at all.

Also if we assume that they haven't worked under anyone since Yllidith, and doing so wasn't the best experience (I am assuming both of those things), than this might've been extra upsetting for them too. If it wasn't humiliating enough by itself. Dare I say I think all 3 of them hated this shadowy, 'Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come' ass bitch- Just not a fan of it being mostly a fear thing, I mean these men have been around for a WHILE. Like just say they're aware they're too weak to leave him rn, but don't make them SCARED and sweating on their knees tf is WRONG with you smh.

Not to do another comic rant or anything, but I will NEVER get over how the comics slandered them and everything positive they had going for them. Maybe that's why Neruman doesn't do a lot for me hskskssj he really is a big part of it all.

『 DUMAN 』

-) The only reason he exists at all was to aid in the conflict with the fairies. Serving as Yllidith's familiar of sorts, he protected the man from curses and kept him from being tracked down by the enemy. A very thankless job. Duman was often treated more like a pet, despite being Yllidith's blood. But at least he was able to bring over those passive abilities into the Black Circle later on.

-) Was an absolute pain to face back in the day. He was near impossible to trap or contain, injuries that should kill rarely kept him down for even a few moments, and the thought of him being around could be so stressful that fairies sometimes turned on each other.

-) Has owned SO many pets. At some point it was a hobby to take in sick/dying animals so he could do a bit of research when they died, but being as magical as he is, every once in a while they would straight up recover. And refuse to leave. The hobby became a lot less enjoyable after the 20th pet.

-) Absolutely the worst in magic unrelated to his specialty, his self-proclaimed 'mastery over form', of all the wizards. This has somewhat forced him to find interesting ways to make things work. The spells he can do, not including group spells, are done with one hand. Which he will not stop doing. If he could open the Black Circle with one hand, he would. The others would not be able to stop him.

-) He seems to get some weird enjoyment out of cutting people off when they ask any variation of "Hey, did you hear about-", just going "Yes." and leaving it at that. Nothing else. It's extremely funny to him and he has done it many times. Nobody agrees with him.

Since Gregory was introduced after season 4 timeline-wise, he wouldn't really be included in any backstory with the Black Circle, but their dynamic could definitely still be expanded upon even if they only knew each other for a short time. Like who did he like the most and why was it Anagan? Fight me in the parking lot. And how did the Black Circle feel about training a young wizard after who knows how long since the last one popped up? Like taking the magic from Earth made a lot of magical bloodlines go dormant, right- A lot of people on Earth began finding out they had powers only after it had returned, but while there's a reason the fairies were gone, what happened to the other wizards? Those existed, right?? Where did the rest of them go?? Did the Black Circle know they would be affected too?? Did they care?

This is kinda getting off-topic, but I hope you can see where I'm trying to go with this- They'd probably feel some type of way about Gregory's existence while he doesn't even know who they are or what they did to Earth, to him they are just some random wizards assigned to train him. Which in turn upsets the Black Circle because they’re brats who want to be respected, leading to them (mostly Ogron) repeatedly trying to assert their dominance and authority with varying levels of success (actually no success).

Maybe in a timeline where they weren't forced to work under Neruman, training Gregory could've been a choice? Maybe they even had a good time? AU where the Black Circle takes a bunch of newly awakened Earth witches and wizards under their wing when?

Moving on to Yllidith- He could actually work fine with what he was set up with, sure it lacks depth but it’s not very hard to expand upon I guess? We got some canon crumbs from the comic that could be fun to play around with; Him being feared and respected by his apprentices? Delicious, let’s focus on that fear. The way he manipulated some fairy students to escape? Love me some manipulation! Give me more. The fact he managed to traumatize Nebula to the point she banned illusion magic? Excuse me?? It's said that even followers of his wanted to overthrow him and while this can just be chalked up to evil wizards being backstabby, I have decided Yllidith was simply a very unlikable mentor and leader. Like these little things, his mastery over illusion magic; I smell toxic learning environment potential. We don't get a lot for him in terms of personality, but I'd like to view him as the type of person to convince you to do a trust fall off of a ladder just to teach you you can't trust anyone, the fact you now have a broken limb is just a funny bonus.

I'm of the firm believe Ogron was a bratty teen when he joined the fairy hunters after literally tracking them down to train under Yllidith, he was skilled for his age and not taking no for an answer, it just feels fitting. Anagan joined a few years later after having a pretty horrible experience involving the Earth fairies, bad enough to the point he had no problem leaving his normal life behind, which he was previously more than content with. He wasn't a teen like Ogron, just a regular young adult, no biggie. Gantlos wanted to be left alone, the fairy hunters wanted him. He had caused some pretty impressive destruction (accidentally) and that made him interesting. While he didn't protest, his believe in the cause had to grow over time. Duman is just related to Yllidith.
