Sally comes from the Latin salÄ«re meaning "to leapâ by way of the Middle French saillie, which means "attack."
"Every child has nightmares."
"It is only natural to be afraid of things we donât understand, things we believe are hiding under our beds, in the closet. Those are dark scary places to a child."
"You were afraid of things when you were a little boy, right Agent Reynolds?"
"Oh, yes," said Dean, smiling at the child psychologist. "In fact, I still find monsters scary."
"Yes, but now you know monsters are just humans. Cruel humans, but humans."
Deanâs smile was forced. âSure they are.â It should have been easy to hide his knowledge behind lies, as easy as it should have been to flirt with the attractive woman that sat across from him. She was even his type, but his heart just was not into it. He had called dibs on the psychologist as soon as him and Sam had left the hotel that morning and now he was regretting not talking to the traumatized 9-year-old. At least the kid knew the monsters were not always human. Dean could relate to the kid. It sucked to be a kid and not be able to tell the adults the truth, because if you did they sent you to people like the woman across from Dean. To people who told you that you were crazy because the adults could not handle the truth.
"Thank you for your help, doctor," he said, his smile back in place as he stood. "Iâll let you know if I have any more questions."
Sam met him as Dean stepped out into the hallway. âWell?â
Dean shook his head. âShe doesnât know anything. Sheâs convinced the kid is scared of the dark in his closet and the kidâs father just left the family. What did he say?â
"That the dark in the closet came out and grabbed his dad."
"Well then what are you waiting for?" Crowley smiled as he fell into step behind the brothers. "You two sally off and kill another of my former lackeys. Iâll call you when I have more information."
Dean scowled at the demon. âWhere are you going?â
"To do other things," said Crowley. "As much as I would love to help you and Moose kill Abaddonâs foot soldiers, I have other things that require my time and attention."
Sam scowled over at Dean as Crowley vanished. The two continued down the steps. âWhy is it every time Crowley tells us where to find demons I get the feeling thereâs more to it than we know?â
"Because itâs Crowley," said Dean. "Of course thereâs more to it than we know, but heâs helping us track down Abaddonâs bitches and every demon we gank is good with me. Even if we are playing into Crowleyâs endgame, itâs still one less demon." Getting into the Impala, Dean scowled back up at the point Crowley had been a few moments before. He would deal with Crowley when the time came, but until then he would gladly kill any demon the former king of hell wanted to point him at.
