rose would usually have wintergreen to calm her down and hold her whenever she had night terrors and nightmares after her mother’s death. mostly concerning her uncle, wade lefarge, who she doesn’t know is dead. who she doesn’t know was killed by her father that day. she thinks he’s still out there and he’s gonna get her. think of like this 10/11 year old girl riddled with PTSD that she doesn’t get help for ofc cause her father’s an idiot (he has C-PTSD himself).
slade is usually not at the safe house a lot anyway, but still has this pit of resentment in his chest about billy being the one who his daughter runs to when she feels scared. for security. not that he trusts himself to be able to comfort his daughter at all. he can barely look at her bc of how much she look like lillian. he doesn’t know how to hold her. or hold any of his kids for that matter.
only one night he is there, and billy isn’t. and he hears her screaming, waking him up from his hard-earned sleep. he hears her run to uncle billy’s room, crying where are you ? then run into her father’s room. she’s wailing and hyperventilating, “daddy, there’s someone in my bed”.
