I couldn’t think of drawing or writing anything related to any of the Rivetra Week themes, but I really wanted to take part, so instead I did this little thing that has been on my head for sometime now.
Petra blinked, caught between laughing and looking to the other woman in bewilderment, wondering where the question even came from.
Her relationship with Levi wasn’t exactly a secret, though there were only few she discussed it with. Nifa being one of course; Petra always confiding in the Squad Hanji member.
Still…it was a surprising question.
“That depends; does him announcing to me that he needs to take a shit considered dirty talking?”
Both women erupted into laughter, filling the small dining room. Calming from her giggles, Petra sighed, giving Nifa a shrug.
“I mean- to be honest with you, he doesn’t really talk at all during sex,” she began to explain, idly stirring the spoon in her half filled cup of tea.
“Like- we don’t really talk about sex either; he just- you can just tell when he wants it, y'know? …well, I don’t suppose you would know.”
Nifa grinned, picking up her tea cup and bringing it up to take a sip, though not before responding.
“Not unless it came from your mouth.”
“And it better not come out of yours to anyone else,” the Titian haired woman said, feigning seriousness in her tone and pointing at the other woman.
“Oh, you know I wouldn’t!”
They both laughed again, without a care that they may be a bit too loud. Petra rubbed a tear from her eye, composing herself enough to speak again.
“I know, I know- that’s why I can talk to you about these things and not anyone else.”
Their chuckles slowly died, a silence filling the room again as they sipped at the remaining tea in their cups. It was enjoyable to be able to unwind like this, especially after a long day of training for the upcoming expedition.
But it wasn’t long before Nifa broke the silence once again.
“…well…I mean would you want him to dirty talk you?”
Petra thought it over a moment, trying to imagine what Levi would even say to her. Her thoughts quickly betrayed her, however, her nose wrinkling at a cringe-worthy imagination playing out in her mind.
She quickly shook her head.
“Oh God no. Absolutely not. He’s- I love him, but he’s so awkward as it is when talking normally,” she began, turning the cup in her hands and feeling a warmth in her cheeks as she tried to word out her next thoughts.
“I mean- I think the idea of it would be great, I’d go so far as to say that I wish Levi would dirty talk me but-”
She set her cup down, scratching her cheek and giving Nifa a sheepish smile.
“Well, I think what’s important is to keep in mind there’s a difference between ‘would’ and 'could.’”
She quickly added, “But I’m not complaining, of course-”
“Right, right,”
“I’m perfectly fine with how he is and wouldn’t really take him otherwise.”
Nifa nodded in understanding, smiling at her friend as she set aside her empty teacup.
“That’s all that really matters.”
Levi’s gaze bore right into the door of his office door, not bothering to make eye contact with one hanji Zoe that took it upon theirself to enter without asking. Not that Levi expected such from Hanji; the only way to keep the crazy scientist out was to bolt the door shut. And even then, hey’d figure out a way into the room so long as it meant pestering the shit out of someone other than Moblit.
“So Levi, tell me…“ they began after crossing the room, coming up right behind his chair. Their hands came to rest on his shoulders, giving them a squeeze as they continued, "how is your sex life with Petra?”
“Get out,” he said, rolling his shoulders to try and shake them off, “…and get your shitty hands off me.”
He was rarely in the mood for Hanji’s poking and prodding when it came to other subjects; but when it came to his personal, private life, there was certainly no mood to be had to entertain any of the such.
“Ohh, come on, Levi- listen; I’m only trying to help you,” they whined, coming around the desk and pushing a stack of his papers to the side so that they may sit on the edge of the desk.
His brows furrowed, having half a mind to shove them off and drag them into the hall. He wouldn’t, of course, but part of him wish he did.
“I don’t need your fucking help, Hanji; it’s none of your damn business.”
Hanji pulled the pen he held in his hand, tapping him on the top of the head with it as they retorted, “So I guess it’s none of my business that I just happened to overhear Petra telling Nifa she wished you would dirty talk her.”
“Bullshit.”
“It’s the God’s honest truth; she said, and I quote ‘I wish Levi would dirty talk me.’ Would I ever lie to you, Levi?”
He snatched the pen from out of their hand, and with a hard jerk of his elbow, pushed Hanji off his desk.
“Get out now!”
They laughed, slipping out of the room, but not before pushing over Levi’s stack of papers, of course.
He cursed, standing up to collect the papers that had fallen on the floor, his mind starting to stew and wonder if there really was some truth to Hanji’s words...
Petra came to his room that night, as opposed to Levi coming to hers. It never mattered to either one of them, for all they cared for was the company of each other.
She had woken in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, Petra careful not to wake the insomniac man from what little sleep he did manage to fall into. But as she settled back into bed, her back facing him, she felt one of his arms pull her closer, his lips pressing to the back of her neck.
"I’m sorry,” she whispered, “I didn’t mean to wake you.”
"S’fine,” Levi mumbled, hand coming up to rest on her arm, his thumb gently caressing her skin. His lips moved from the back of her neck to the side, pressing a kiss before sucking on her skin to leave his mark.
A soft moan sounded in the back of her throat, feeling his hand travel from her arm to her stomach, fingering the band of her panties. His kissing continued as his hand dipped down, fingertips rubbing against the fabric that covered her womanhood.
Petra swallowed, pressing her behind into him, feeling the stiffening of his erection against her. One of her hands came to rest atop his, guiding it from the outside of her panties back up to her waist, before dipping inside them and pressing him against her slickening folds with a light gasp.
Levi’s lips moved from her neck to her jaw, slowly working his way up with nibbles and kisses against her skin. He came to her ear, his fingers picking up the pace against her clit, his breath tickling her skin as he began to whisper.
“I’m gonna fucking-” he paused in his words, the movements of his fingers slowing slightly though not ceasing as he contemplated what he was going to actually say, “...fuck...the shit out of you...”
She wasn’t exactly sure what to say, part of her wondering if she even heard him correctly, her own hand still atop his and pressing his fingers harder into her folds to prompt him to return to the pace he had momentarily dropped.
Instead she hummed in response, now pulling her hand from his to snake behind her to find his manhood. She dipped into his shorts, a bit of pre-cum rubbing onto her skin as she grasped his erection.
Levi grunted at her touch, kissing her before once again speaking.
This time, he was sure of what he was going to say.
“I’ll stuff you so full, you’ll feel like you’ll need to take a shit.”
“What?!”
He blinked at her response, his movements, as well as her own, ceasing. She pulled her hand from his cock, turning into him to try and look at his face.
“...did you just-what? Levi, what are you doing?”
“Sex, Petra,” he deadpanned, as though the answer was (and to him, it was,) completely obvious.
She continued to push herself into him, causing him to move back just a bit so that she may roll over to face him.
“No, I mean- what are you saying; why are you saying those things?”
She could see the confusion in his eyes, a furrow of his brows further indicating such. Though just what was causing him confusion was beyond her. He remained silent, eyes fixed to hers. She waited a few moments, and when it was clear he wasn’t going to respond, she prodded.
“Levi...”
“Shitty glasses overheard you talking to Nifa...Said you wanted this kind of talk.”
This time it was Petra’s brows that furrowed in confusion, the gears of her mind slowly churning.
When realization dawned on her, she couldn’t help the guffaw that escaped her.
Bewilderment once again came over Levi’s features momentarily. However, within seconds, the confusion was replaced with annoyance, not wanting to be some sort of joke.
Petra sat up in an attempt to catch the breath her laughing depraved her of.
“Don’t be- don’t be mad!” She said between breaths, trying to settle down though finding it hard to do so, watching as he sat up as well, pressing his back into the headboard.
“I’m not...I’m not laughing at you, Levi,” she began before correcting herself, pushing her hand through his hair. “Well, I mean a little- but I promise I’m not completely.”
Arms crossing, he grunted, not bothering to to respond to her with actual words (and secretly enjoying her playing with his hair despite his annoyance.)
“While I appreciate you trying to do something for me,” she began, unable to shake her amused smile, “if Hanji had actually heard the whole conversation, you’d know that I don’t want that from you at all.”
Levi glanced to her, quirking a brow and she continued.
“As I’ve said to Nifa, I’m perfectly fine with how you are and wouldn’t really take you otherwise...so please...no more dirty talk.”
He nodded, visibly relaxing. She leaned over to give him a kiss before pulling wiggling back into bed.
“We’ll have to continue tomorrow; you kinda killed the mood,” she giggled, eliciting another annoyed grunt from him as he laid back down and turned away, giving the covers a spiteful tug to pull them off of her.
Petra sighed, rolling over and hugging him to her.
Every morning, the reckon corps soldiers gathered to have breakfast. Always at 7 AM. They were all used to that routine, but they specially looked forward to Wednesday morning, because it was mail day. Letters and packages from their families and friends came. Long awaited correspondence that made everyone feel close to home.
Like every week, Petra received a letter from her family. She opened it, anxious to read her family news, which always made her happy. She started to read while she ate her breakfast, but suddenly she dropped the spoon in the place, making his teammates look at her with curiosity.
“Is something wrong?” Erd asked.
“No, nothing…” she showed an empty smile “I just felt a little dizzy.”
And then, the girl stood up from the table and walked towards the stable as fast as she could. No one noticed her strange behavior, except for an experienced soldier…
Since the moment she received the letter, Captain Levi was glancing at her with discretion. He enjoyed seeing the illusion on his subordinate’s face. A guilty pleasure no one should know about. But it was different that day. This time, instead of a wide smile, she showed a concerned look he’d never seen before and that gave him a stomachache.
A couple minutes later, the Captain knew the girl wouldn’t come back to finish her breakfast, so he decided to give her some time and proceeded with the day’s schedule.
After breakfast, the squad went to clean their 3D maneuver gear, like they did every day. It took them about 45 minutes and then the physical training started.
By that time, the Captain was worried about the girl, but more than anything, he felt frustrated for not knowing what made her disappear like that.
“Erd, lead the training while I’m gone.” He looked at his subordinate with a serious expression and then turned around, heading to look for the girl.
The rest of the squad knew what he was about to do, but none of them spoke. They figured he would scold their teammate for skipping training.
Levi looked for Petra in her room, but no one answered when he knocked on the door. Then he went looking for her in one of the empty hallways in the castle, where he had found her a couple times before, writing letters, but she wasn’t there either. After that, he went to the gardens but he wasn’t successful either. Finally, he looked at the stable and knew she had to be there.
He opened the door, careful to not make a single sound and waiting for a signal that could tell him Petra was there. Suddenly, the sound of someone sobbing in the back was heard.
He walked with caution. For some reason, he didn’t want to be heard. After all, he didn’t know what to do in those cases, but he hurried to get by her side. After all, it wasn’t easy to make Petra cry. It must have been something serious.
She was sitting in one of the corners. Her ace was hidden between her hands, preventing her sobbing to be heard. When Levi saw her like that, his expression immediately changed. In a matter of seconds, his surprised expression became worried and once he was close enough, he cleared his throat to pick up her attention.
“Captain!” she hurried to get up and formally saluted “I apologize for not doing my duties and…”
“Silence.” He said with severity, making her feel tense, but that quickly changed when he got closer to her and looked directly at her eyes “what’s wrong?” there was silence, and she looked at him with disbelief. She knew very well, the Captain was a rigid and inexpressive man, but now he seemed approachable and less intimidating. An attitude she had only seen a very few times before “what was in that letter, that made you react like that?”
“I… is my mother.” Her voice was insecure “she just passed away.” And then she started to cry again, this time looking at the floor, avoiding the Captain’s gaze.
A few months before, the special operations squad was formed, but during that short time, he identified the girl as someone very special for the team, and seeing her like that, made him feel something unknown. Truth to be told, he didn’t know what to do about it, so he offered her a handkerchief and then spoke again with a monotonous voice.
“Go back to your room and take the rest of the day off.” Levi turned around and left the stable, while images of his harsh childhood came to his mind.
He headed towards the Commander’s office, almost automatically, still with the vivid images of his mother agonizing in the bed and her last days. The corpse in front of him and the uncertainty about his future. Listening that Petra’s mother died reminded him of all that.
Once he was in Erwin’s office, he asked for a special permission so the girl could go back home for a few days. The commander agreed and his only condition was that the Captain would take the opportunity to deliver some documents in the capital.
Right after that, the Captain headed towards the girl’s room to inform her about the permission and in less than two hours after that, they were in Karanes. Levi escorted her to her house and then left for the capital, explaining that she would have two days before going back to the barracks.
Petra had never see him like that. Although he kept his serious and apparently cold attitude, something in him seemed close and worried about her, so she said goodbye with a beautiful smile on her face. One that he’d always remember.
The next day, Petra’s mother funeral took place. It was a solemn ceremony and only close family members were there. The atmosphere was nostalgic and sad, and the air stated to feel colder. The girl walked along with her father and uncles, heading towards their house.
Her eyes were red and swollen for crying so much, that she felt she didn’t have any tears left. Right after leaving the cemetery, she saw a familiar silhouette.
“I’ll see you back in the house, dad.” Mr. Ral looked at her with curiosity and then turned to see the man who was leaning in one of the walls in front of the cemetery, looking at them closely. He nodded with solemnity and the girl’s father figured out who that man was, so he answered with the same gesture.
“Captain…” she was about to say something else, but he interrupted her.
“How are you, Petra?” he looked at her with concern on his eyes.
“I feel a little better... I… was worried about my father, but at least he could say goodbye.”
“I’m sorry for your loss.” His voice was sincere and almost a whisper.
“Thank you. I really appreciate you let me being here. At least I could see her one last time…” and then a pair of tears went down her cheeks, but she wasn’t crying, those were her last tears of sorrow. The hardest to let go.
She tried to hide her face so he wouldn’t see her crying again, but suddenly she felt his arms around her embracing her as if he wanted to protect her from all the things that could bring her pain. It was then, when she knew how much he cared for her, so Petra held him tight, in a warm and comforting embrace. Just what she needed to feel better.
Meanwhile, Levi realized, not only that she was an important member of his quad, but that she managed to win his sympathy and wake up something inside him. Something he’d never felt before and that made him feel restless. The embrace gave him some peace, and he knew that wouldn’t be enough to fell completely calm. But, for the moment, that was the only thing he could do for her, and for himself too. Another day, perhaps…
Author’s notes.
Sorry this is a little late, but this drabble’s promt was comfort. I hope you liked it, and I hope you all enjoyed rivetra week as much as I do! I’ll look forward to the next one!
A/N: Okay, I don’t even know what this is. This may not seem like royalty to you, but in my mind it kind of is because I imagined a whole plot for this supposed-to-be-one-shot! I know, I’m crazy and I don’t even know what I’m doing with my life anymore. As such, just so you’re not confused over where the royalty is in this poor excuse of a story, I’ll briefly explain: Petra’s father has a brother and both of them are descendants from the royal family, which is no longer ruling. They don’t get along, you know, the whole mean-brother/good-brother kind of thing. So, the mean-brother wants to steal the painting that was currently with Petra’s family because he thinks he has more rights over it than them (and he wants to sell it). That’s basically it, I think :p Sorry for taking so much of your time, enjoy it nonetheless :D Happy Rivetra Week!! Omg, so excited <33
As he climbs up to the window, he can't help but curse every entity known in this universe. The intercom buzzing in his ear was extremely annoying, and he couldn't wait to take it out and throw it as far as the sun goes. But as of now, he knows he can't, so he simply grits his teeth and tries to bear with it.
That is, until a loud beep that almost makes him lose his grip pierces his eardrum.
"Farlan," he hisses, trying very hard to contain the expletives that were dying to leave his mouth. "What the actual fuck."
Oops.
"What? What is it?" his best friend's voice replaces the buzzing, and he almost sighs in relief.
"You almost left me deaf."
"I did?" his voice sounds utterly confused, making Levi roll his eyes.
"Forget it," he says, finally jumping inside of the house, "I'm in."
"Way to go aniki!" Isabel's loud voice makes him wince, and he comes to the conclusion that he will be deaf by morning.
Levi doesn't respond to the girl, which leaves her grumbling on the other side of the line. His eyes roam over the living room he stepped in, paying attention to every single detail. It doesn't take him long to realize that what he's looking for is not there.
"I think the painting's in one of the offices."
Farlan tells him before he can even ask. Levi hears him typing away at his computer, probably looking for the office where the painting would most likely be. He waits patiently, taking careful steps on the carpeted floor as his index and middle finger swipe over a table top, before analysing the leftovers that got stuck to them.
"Not bad." he mumbles under his breath when he realizes his fingers are clean. He looks back at the table, looking at the contents sitting on top of it. Some papers along with bills, a few coins and picture frames.
Normally, he wouldn't be interested at all in the lives of those whom he had to steal/spy from, but a certain picture caught his eye. He picks it up and brings it closer to his face.
There, a beautiful woman with hair as golden as gold itself stands, proudly holding a card he fails to recognize. Her entire figure screams pride, and so does that of the two people who stand by her side. He assumes them to be her parents, since they seem to be in their early fifties, and the older woman's hair resembles that of the younger one, the only difference being some of the already whitening strands. The man's, however, is a dark auburn color.
He places the picture down as his attention is drawn to another one. It seems to have been taken on the same day, for she wears the same clothes and is showing off the same card to the camera. Although, now she's surrounded by three men, all of them about her age. One of them is holding her on his shoulders while kneeling down on the floor, while the others support her arms, one on each of their shoulders. Bright smiles adorn their faces and they seem to be having fun. He has the feeling he's seen her before somewhwere, but he can't exactly put his finger on it.
"Okay, leave the living room and go down the hallway, third door on the right." Farlan speaks up again. Levi takes one last look at the picture before putting it down and following the instructions given to him.
This job's payment is bigger than any he has ever done before. And it's as easy as stealing candy from a child. It was perfect and it had everything to go right.
Apparently, the painting was a family relic, but not just any family. The late royal family. The one that ruled before a democracy was implanted. And his employer was part of it, royal blood running through his veins.
"Tch." Levi can't help but let out as his eyes lay on the ticket to a better life. All that money for this?
Well, he certainly would not complain. Although it does make him wonder. If this belonged to the royal family, why would these people have it? They were rich, sure, that much he knew from Farlan's debriefing (that is, before he dozed off). But not so rich as to be able to buy a painting that was worth millions. The same millions his client was willing to pay to have it stolen.
He's slowly removing the painting out of the wall, careful not to ruin anything in it, when the door bursts open and the lights turn on.
Well, that was unexpected. Especially considering he didn't hear steps on the hallway, which was a first for him. His hearing was something he took pride in, and no one could easily sneak up on him.
If he was easily scared, he'd probably have jumped out of his skin, but he's not. That's why he places the painting on the ground as if he was not just trying to steal it, before touching a button near his temple to darken the shades of his glasses. He also makes sure to pull the black face mask he was wearing further up before he turns around to face the intruder.
She's eyeing him without any fear whatsoever, disheveled hair and slightly dazed eyes as if she'd just woken up. He easily recognizes her as the girl on the photos; the shade of her hair giving her out immediately. Familiarity slaps him in the face once again, but he still can't seem to remember where-
"Who are you and what are you doing in my house?" she asks, narrowing her eyes.
That's right! He remembers, she's that journalist... the one whose parents are rich, but she refuses to use their money to climb her way to the top. The one who always tells the truth, no matter who she's going up against, even if it's the president himself. That's why she works at a smaller newspaper company. She thinks she'll be able to help them become bigger by her own hard work, which he finds completely stupid. In the world they live in, revealing the truth will only bring you down.
"Petra Ral," her name rolls over his tongue as if he'd already said it countless of times, while he takes a few steps closer to her. She does not back down.
"Levi?" Farlan voices out, clearly a little anxious.
"Tch." he's about to turn around, but she grabs his arm and makes him turn back to her. Her lips are pursed, and she's staring intensely at where she assumed his eyes to be. She could not be certain, since his shades wouldn't let her see.
"That painting you were just trying to steal, it belongs to my family. Don't you dare-"
"Look here, miss. I'm just trying to do my job. I'd appreciate it if you could just turn around and go back to your room, pretend nothing happened," he tries to reason out, his voice coming out a little muffled, "Unless... you want me to do this the hard way. And let me tell you, I don't think you'd really like that."
Even with his threatening tone, she does not back down. She's either feisty, or stupidly brave. He doesn't know which is worse. Neither allows her to realize possible dangerous situations, such as the one she's in right now. He sighs.
"Well, I'm assuming you want the hard way then."
He's about to pick her up over his shoulder when she assumes a fighting stance. His eyebrows raise slightly, clearly not expecting this.
"If you think I'll let you leave like this, don't." she says, and he almost has the urge to chuckle.
"Your fighting stance is almost flawless, although you should try to open your legs a little bit more." his foot comes in between her legs and pushes them further apart. "There."
He doesn't know why he's finding amusement in this, but he is.
Her eyes look at him in confusion and slight anger. She thinks he's mocking her.
"Levi, what the hell are you doing?" Farlan's disbelieving voice fills his ear once again, but he ignores it.
"Now, show me what you've got." Levi tells her, using his index finger to lure her in. She grits her teeth and is about to give him a left, but he quickly takes hold of her arm. She tries to pry it away, but when she realizes she can't, she tries to punch him with her right fist, which he also grabs. He pushes her against the wall, both fists pinned over her head.
"First lesson I'm going to teach you; don't let anger cloud your senses. All it does is make you weaker." his tone is amused, which makes her the more pissed off. He can feel it, even before she starts raising her leg to kneel him where it hurts, so he pins her legs with his as well.
"Interesting... so the famous truth seeker Petra Ral's got some moves on her. Too bad you can't really use them on me. But I'm sure if you tried them against some other fool, he'd be screeching in pain on the ground by now."
"You've seen nothing yet," she huffs against his face.
"Haven't I?" he asks, using just one hand to pin hers against the wall, while the other brings his face mask down. He gets closer to her face, his breath hot against her lips. "What else would you like me... to see?"
Her eyes widen a little at the close proximity, and she feels her stomach twist up. She doesn't understand at all. He's trying to steal from her, for God's sake! One of the most important paintings of her family... But still she doesn't... he's got this hold on her and...
"Let me go." she voices out weakly, making him smirk.
"Now, you don't really that, do you?" he licks his lips, and she can feel her legs starting to shake. But it's not from fear. She doesn't fear him at all, even though she probably should.
"Yes, I-"
His lips crash against hers surprisingly, and her eyes widen even more, completely shocked.
He's... he's kissing me? her mind is a complete mess as his lips move against hers, and she can't do - or maybe doesn't want to do - anything.
He softly bites her lower lip, making her stomach do yet another flip. His tongue swipes over it, as if to soothe it, before he sucks it in between his. And she looses it. She has no idea what comes over her and makes her kiss back the man that's trying to steal from her, but she does it nonetheless.
She kisses him just as fiercely, taking revenge for the bit lip and the sucking.
When the need to breathe arises, he finally releases her lips, and she doesn't even realize her eyes had slid closed. She keeps them that way, even when he let's go of her.
"I hope to see you again, Miss Ral." and that's what makes her snap her eyes open again. But when she does, he's already jumping out of the house with the painting on his back. She gasps in shock, running to the window he used and putting her head out, the cold winter wind slapping at her cheeks. He's nowhere to be seen.
"Hey!" she slams her fist on the window sill, completely frustrated with herself for letting him play her like this. And just like that, the painting is gone.

It's his duty, he reminds himself. A duty he can never escape no matter how many zillion stars he wished upon.
“Petra!” He finally loses it with a scream of her name. As much as he's supposed to love her like his life depends on it, Levi can't help it when the damn wretch stepped into his room without removing her shoes again! The gall of her; just because she's his betrothed doesn't mean she can do whatever she pleases in his house. Not yet at least, because he still has some standards.
The lady looks up from her book by the window, thoroughly enjoying the sunlight on a winter day. “Yes, Levi?”
It's his duty to marry her but somewhere between disgruntled growls, unrivalled sword skills, and witty retorts, the line fades into oblivion. It wasn't exactly love at first sight, considering the sad state of civility between their countries. Having fought for nearly two centuries, the Fifth king of Trost, His Majesty Peter Ral, decided enough is enough. Seeing women made widows, children made orphans, not to mention how scarce resources are these days, it is more important to prioritise sustenance than victory otherwise there will not be a country for his people to return to.
King Ral, also commander-in-chief to Trost Imperial Army, demands a peaceful end to their bloody war, offering generous trades with King Ackerman and his country, Underworld. Though vast, Underworld lies deep inland, relying heavily on the few rivers that flow through the nearby mountains and forests. King Ral knows of their weakness for they once called for a truce period of six months to clear the rivers, clogged by landslides and huge boulders caused by earthquakes.
King Ackerman had sneered at the offerings, shaking with rage at how the enemy is belittling them and their limited resources. Prince Levi, also General of their army as well as a council member, points out the truth that holds within the letter his king is crumpling. After plentiful of curses and several exchange of blows – which is their favourite way to discuss things – King Ackerman granted a meeting with King Ral with a spit. Neither Levi nor his King was happy about this but they needed to find a way out without bringing too much shame to their country. Soldiers were no longer united and morale was at an all-time low. It would only be a matter of time before a riot breaks out and destroys them from the inside. As much as King Ackerman loves violence, blood, and fire, it wouldn't do for his own subjects to kill each other.
The meeting was terse, atmosphere overwhelming for the inexperienced but there is always a first time for everything. A long table in the middle of the great hall, one side seated with King Ral and his entourage including Princess Petra, second-in-command of Trost's army, standing proudly behind her father. This way I can easily protect you if someone tries to assassinate you, dad. King Ral shakes his head at his beloved daughter, as proud as a father can be and impressed at how well of a soldier she turned out. His initial opposition of her taking up a sword fell on deaf ears after seeing how talented she was with two in hand.
On the other end, King Ackerman is seated haughtily with Prince Levi standing behind him, both clearly unpleased if their frown was anything to go by. Their own council seated with sweat on their brows, obviously not knowing what to expect. King Ral repeats what was said in his letter, and asks King Ackerman whether he accepts it or not. A simple question with no space for misunderstanding but as one who is known for never admitting defeat easily, King Ackerman throws in conditions; if they're going down, might as well take more of what they can take.
Exclusive trade of silk, pottery, and tea which Trost is proud of. Doing this will not only weaken Trost’s economy but also limit the livelihood of their citizens who depend on export sales. If King Ral accepts, there is a high chance of his people rebelling at the change, which is what he wish to prevents. King Ackerman, however, will not settle for anything less.
Petra sneered at their demands, grumbling to her king of how arrogant they are for such a tiny country.
“If you have something to say, speak up, little girl, otherwise you should know your place as a woman in this place.”
The hall was a filled with dreaded silence and Prince Levi resisted the urge to smack his uncle for making such statement. Just because the Princess is in their land doesn’t mean she has to be treated like someone of no placing. And to address her as “little girl”?!
As much as she love her country and wishes for peace, Petra will never tolerate such insulting words to her kind. The deathly familiar sound of a sword unsheathing echoes in the hall, prompting her advisors to calm her down before blood is drawn.
“Princess Petra, I apologi-“
“I need no apology from you, Prince Levi. If anybody should be apologising for their uncouth words, it’s your king.” She spat out the word ‘king’ like it is filth in her mouth. “It is horribly disappointing to see another sovereign speak of such degrading thoughts in another’s presence. Even if we were to comply with your demands, who can say you will treat our people with the respect they deserve? Are your traders going to act like barbarians and speak with uncalled arrogance when things do not go their way?”
Levi is impressed but it wasn’t shown on his face for all to see. It isn’t every day that someone goes against his king, much less a woman who look like the lady you wish to marry, sans the threatening sword she wields. He’s heard of her excellence in leading her armies and unrivaled combat prowess and wished to cross swords with her at least once.
“Ral, you would do well to teach your daughter to hold her tongue when speaking to someone of a higher status.”
Petra unsheathed her second sword, this time prompting Levi to do the same for his. As much as he prayed for his king to shut the fuck up for the sake of the love for their country, he had to protect his only living relative though he is a pain in the ass at times, specifically now.
“Commander, I am afraid negotiations will have to be put on hold until we can make them see eye-to-eye.” She addressed her king who furrowed his brows, mentally sighing at how backward King Ackerman is.
“Don’t get injured, Petra. Your mum will kill me if a strand if missing from you by the time we get back.” He shuddered involuntarily, remembering how his queen looked like a demon towering him when he told her he allowed Petra to come along for this meeting when she hardly gets back from base camp.
Petra only flashed him a smile because she saw Levi advancing towards her.
The fight didn’t end even after swords were broken. Levi visibly struggling with her quick blows while Petra winces from pain whenever he manages to land a blow. He has to hand it to her, seeing how well she is able to move in a dress. He did get a scare when her skirt tore but it only revealed long pants and combat boots but he’s never seen a lady rip the rest away as easily as she did like it’s a normal thing to do in front of men.
With his pride and ego on the line, Levi pined his opponent to the ground, a painful thud resounding when her head made contact with the marble. His victory is short-lived because of an unsuspecting well-aimed kick to first his nether regions and next to his temple which resulted in him tumbling quite a distance away.
With her vision swimming dangerously, it wouldn’t do well for this fight to continue and thus Petra decides to end it all, one hand inconspicuously reaching for the dagger hidden in her boots. Before it could be drawn, a clap drew their attention to King Ackerman, the man standing and applauding.
“Spectacular! It truly amazes me to see a woman fight so well.” If that was meant to be a compliment, Petra wasn’t taking it at all.
“Ral!” He turns to her king, “I accept your peace treaty, with your conditions but I do have a special condition I would urge you to consider.”
King Ral raises a brow, wondering if his special condition is a trap. “And that is?”
“To secure and ensure peace will last, why not let Prince Levi marry Princess Petra? Don’t you think they will make excellent, beautiful babies?”
This time, Petra cried bloody murder.

Three months had passed since Petra accepted his proposal with a disgusted face that pretty much says she would rather dip her hand in horse shit than accept his ring. It wasn’t easy, settling provisions of this marriage and the living arrangement of the new couple. A step forward will always be met with an obstacle that brings them three steps backward.
“Let’s just alternate every month. I take the even months, you take odd.”
Levi wonders why she wants the even months and questions so.
“Because I want to spend my birthday at home, not in the mountains where it’s cold enough to freeze over the rivers.”
“I want to spend my birthday at home too!” He’d never thought they’d have to quarrel over something this trivial. “When’s your birthday?”
“Early December.”
“Then the first half of December shall be spent in Trost. The second half will be in Underworld because mine’s at the end.”
Petra thought about this, not wanting to spend winter in the mountains but this is the closest to a compromise they could come to without killing each other. “Fine. And I have a question that’s been bugging me for a long, long time.”
Levi picks up his goblet and takes a sip of wine served by her servants and is delighted by the richness of it. “What?” he takes a mouthful this time.
“Why is your country named ‘Underworld’ when it’s only deep in the mountains? Should it be ‘Worldaway’ or something?” Her snickers intensifies when he chokes on his drink.
Imagine his dismay when his famous glare does nothing to shut her up.

Even until now, Levi does occasionally wonder why his country is called ‘Underworld’ because technically, it isn’t under the world. He brought up the question once to his bed-ridden king and was rewarded with a smack under his chin.
I didn’t raise you to ask redundant questions, Levi. Think about how you are going to win her heart over instead because I can fucking swear on this death bed of mine, it will not be a walk in the park when you have to live with her on bad terms.
He shakes his head and walks into his room bare-footed. Stopping in front of his fiancée who is observing him with a glint in her eyes, he sighs and kneels and proceed to remove her shoes carefully like a gentleman would.
“Remove your shoes next time, otherwise I’m barring you from entering my room next time.”
She leans to place a sweet kiss on his cheek and whispers, “I can always break down the door, you know.”
He smirks at the image he brain conjured. “I’m sure you can and you will.”
A/N: a La La Land-inspired AU for these two was inevitable.
They must’ve been staring at each other for a long time because Hannes was clearing his throat like something had blocked his oesophagus. “Is this man bothering you, Petra?” he asked, glaring daggers at the raven-haired figure sitting across the counter.
Petra swallowed the lump in her throat, nervously redirecting her gaze to her boss. “Everything’s fine, Hannes,” she replied with her usual beam. “Just dumbstruck at how small the world is.” She snuck back a glance at the man, whose gaze was still transfixed on her. “But everything’s fine. I’m still getting used to the ropes.”
Hannes gave a conceding hum, turning away only when Petra frowned subtly at his persisting presence.
She faced him again. “It’s you,” she said, almost breathlessly. “Levi. I never thought I’d see you again.”
He shifted in his seat, finally breaking his gaze. “I’ll have a pint,” he replied, voice raspy.
Petra grabbed an empty glass and began to fill it up. She stared intently at him. He’d definitely grown from the small, skinny boy in her adolescence. She could see how toned his arms were from where they began on his rolled-up sleeves, and his clean-shaven undercut… Puberty really did do wonders to people, and right now, looking at him and remembering how he’d been almost twelve years ago... it was as if puberty took a chisel and sculpted a completely new person.
But his eyes were the same. That was how she recognised him, striding through the doors of The Cambridge with a suit jacket in one hand and piercing, silver eyes scanning the room. Until they landed on her.
It was like being sucker-punched in the gut when their eyes locked. She saw how his had marginally widened at the sight of her and some part of her hoped that it was for recognition at the very least.
And when he sat down, right there, right in front of her, she ̶
“Shit!” Petra cursed, jolting out of her reverie. She’d gotten the beer all over her hands, her apron. “Shit, I’m so sorry, I’ll get you another glass.”
Levi was more curious than shocked to hear such profanities coming from her mouth. Not once had he ever heard her swear when they were teenagers, except to make those stupidly childish promises about marriage and shit like that. How she’d be in Hollywood and he’d be making music for the masses, and after all is said and done, they’d get a house in Belgravia, marry, have children…
Petra...of course he remembered Petra Ral. Not a day had passed in all 6 years of his secondary education when he didn’t dream of Petra Ral in one way or another. She was his best friend, or formerly. He remembered music lessons, maths lessons, Macbeth and Gatsby, she was the top student in their year. Always unreachable, except, of course in dreams.
And then she disappeared. In their final year of school, he’d been accepted into Cambridge to read History, and she had vanished. No-one knew where she had gone. Slowly, worry had turned into resentment, and she had turned into a memory.
“I’m so sorry, Levi, I didn’t know where my mind was.”
He glanced at the glass she eventually placed in front of him, and then up at her, searching for answers. Why was she here? Where had she been? What happened to her? Why didn’t she tell him?
“Do you…” she paused, gulping at the intensity of his gaze. Sighing, she resorted to looking down at her hands. “Do you remember me?”
Yes, he wanted to say. You haven’t aged a day. She still had her reddish shoulder-length tresses, the dimple on her left cheek, and her sunset-coloured eyes. Any by the looks of it, twelve years had finally done the trick – he’d overtaken her in height.
He took one sip of the beer he’d ordered.
Seeing her again…of all people, of all times, of all places. It left a sour taste in his mouth.
He set the glass down, wiping his lips with the back of his hand.
Standing up, he fished in his pockets for a few heartbeat moments before placing a few coins on the wooden table. The sound seemed to echo around the moderately busy pub, and its resoluteness resounded in his aching chest.
Petra’s eyes pleaded his as he slid his arms into his suit jacket, adjusting the lapels accordingly.
WARNING: NSFW Of course. Of all days of the week, it just had to storm today. She was already late as she walked through the pouring rain that make her clothes soaked. They'd told everyone to stay inside and it was dangerous to go out but she had a really important meeting that she was already late to. Her soaked clothes made it all heavier for her to walk in and it took a lot of the stamina she needed to get through the hard wind. She didn't know what the time was since she was too scared of her phone getting wet by the rain, so she didn't pick it up. How late was she? Twenty to thirty minutes? It felt like it at least. Not knowing made her even more stressed than what she already was. She needed to check the time. Looking around, she noticed a small teashop close to her and she started to approach it. Gently, she tried to open the door and it immediately went open , it wasn't locked. Weird, she thought as she looked around. It seemed empty. Now she just needed to check the time and then she'll be on her way again. Wow, she was only five minutes late. She still needed to hurry but it wasnt as bad as she thought. She was just about to leave when she heard a unfamiliar voice behind her. "Where the fuck do you think you're going?" The sudden voice scared her and she jumped a bit as she felt like her heart stopped beating for a second. "Geez..." she exhaled. "You scared me..." she slowly turn around to see a male with raven hair stand behind the counter. "Sorry. I don't mean to." He nodded his head a bit. "But. You're not going out there again." "I really have to go to this really important meeting that I'm already late to." "I'm sorry to break it to you princess." He sighed. "But it a fucking storm outside. And just look at yourself. Your mascara is all over your face." He stopped and smirked a bit. "And your clothes are so wet I can see right through them." Her face flushed red, and her arms quickly covered her breasts as she looked down. Who was this man? He seemed familiar in some strange way. Then she heard a slight chuckle. "I can't believe you don't remember me Petra." He said. Her eyes widened. Of course. It was Levi Ackerman. Her biggest crush in 9th grade. Of course everyone knew about it, and so did Levi. Now she got even more embarrassed. "Hm? What's up with that face?" He asked. "Cheer up princess. I was joking about the clothes." She smiled faintly. He hadn't changed a bit. He used to call people different names. Hers was princess. He thought she had a perfect life, just like a princess. Slowly she looked back at him and their eyes met. She hadn't seen him in years. Many, many years. And she had no idea how he remembered her. But he did... And she felt special. "If you like you could head upstairs to my apartment and take a shower. After you borrow some of my clothes." He said. "Would be a chance if the princess caught a cold. " She accepted his offer and they both headed upstairs and he led her to the bathroom. Then they both stopped. They were looking into each other eyes for a long moment before they both suddenly pressed their lips against each other's. Neither of them knew how it happened but they didn't want to stop. Levi ,a bit harshly, pinned her against the wall. She let out a gasp as her back hit the hard wall behind her. "Petra..." Levi whispered. "I wasn't joking about the clothes..." she then felt his lips against her neck. Normally she would have called him a pervert and pushed him away, but somehow she actually liked it. She tilted her head to the side to give him more space and he kissed her down her neck. She could feel his hands starting to take of her soak clothes and she didn't stop him. Why? Why weren't she stopping him? He pulled away from her to take her shirt of before he kissed her collarbone. Fuck. She wanted him so bad. After moment they were both completely naked. His body pressed against her as his lips were nipping on the soft skin of her neck. "Petra..." his whisper made her knees weak. "I've always imagined you like this... Naked. Wet." God. She loved his talking. Then she felt his hand travel further down on her body. "I've dreamed about you moaning my name." His fingers started to stroke her entrance. A small moan escaped her lips. "Hm? You're this wet only by some kisses on the neck? You must want me pretty badly. " he smirked. Yes. She wanted him that badly and now he was only teasing her. He leaned closer to her ear."Tell me what you want me to do princess." He whispered. He teased her so much. She was his toy, and she hated it. She wanted more. So much more. "I want you to fuck me..." she mumbled. "Hm? Sorry couldn't hear you. Say that a bit louder." He teased. She bit her lip. His teasing fingers and talking. She couldn't handle it. "Fuck me Levi!" She could feel the smirk on his face. "As you wish princess." He then lifted her up , her back was still pressed against the cold wall and she wrapped her legs around him. He under his free hand that wasn't holding her up to adjust his member so it was lined up against her soaked entrance. Then suddenly he thrust into her. She gasped and bit down her lip. He was a lot bigger than she'd expected. "F-fuck..." he muttered and started thrusting in and out, trying to remained controlled over his own body. "Say my name Petra." "L-Levi." She moaned and wrapped her arms around his neck. He then started to loose control, he bit down on his lips and slammed into her over and over again. Her moans got louder and louder, so did his groans. Only after a few thrust they both climaxed and he slowed down before stopping and pulling out of her as she got back into her feet. Panting, trying to catch the breaths they looked into each other's eyes. She had no idea how, or what just happened. But she somehow loved it. "Lets take a shower. I think we both need it now." || A/N : I know that I can't write smut but I love it.... and I know it's one day late but I just wanted to write one thing for the smut week. So yeah. I added it into this story. Hehe
