@winterbound​​: holds thor's hand cause it's sinday 🥺

there’s no hiding the smile that appears on his face as bucky takes thor’s hand in his own,  and thor is quick to offer a squeeze in response.  it’s been years since he allowed himself to be comforted by simple touches like these ( years since he felt he was worthy of them ),  but there’s something about bucky that makes all of the guilt that usually comes alongside being happy disappear. fifteen hundred years,  and maybe thor’s finally learning that kindness is not something to be earned,  but to be given freely ⸻ and that perfection does not need to preclude being cherished.

with all the ease and confidence of a self he’s only just getting to know again,  thor pulls his hand away,  only so he can wrap his arm around bucky’s shoulders just as the sun begins to break over the horizon. that gentle,  sweet smile doesn’t once leave his face. 

“ i told you you’d like it out here.  it’s peaceful. ”

The bar is a bit crowded this evening, thought it doesn’t matter to Cecilia if it is or not. She’s much too focused on the open karaoke, lost in the songs she’s picked for herself. Despite her dreams of one day becoming a singer, she took a more practical route for a career. That doesn’t mean she can’t indulge once in a while and surprise people with her talent.

Bucky’s mouth feels like heaven when it’s against his. Tastes like it, too. There’s a desperate way Steve grips the other’s collar though. Keeps him from pulling away again by any means possible. Regardless if that fabric is threatening to tear at any given second. Doesn’t matter to him any. He’d buy Bucky ten more shirts just to keep this momentum going. A leg follows. Wrapped around the backs of Bucky’s knees to lock him in place.

This started out as an impromptu sparring match. Out of boredom and needing to pass the time. They were in hiking gear. Steve’s backpack was tossed to the ground when this all started. They were joking around the whole way up the path. Nudges begat nudges back and one thing lead to another which lead to...well...this.

The trail they wandered off of is secluded and no one’s been around for miles. Leaves are stuck to the back of Steve’s head. They crunch under his back. Bucky’s breath is warm against his cheek and he’s swimming in the way his entire gravity seems to stem from the man above him. Then it spins. Drawing him up to crash their mouths together again once both break away for air. Teeth find Bucky’s lower lip and gently bite down.

he’s  not  used  to  being  on  this  side  of  things.

clint  is  used  to  being  the  one  in  the  bed    ―    bandaged,    bruised,    and  laid  up.    somehow,    it’s  even  less  fun  to  be  the  one  outside  of  it.    the  one  WORRYING  until  somebody  important  looking  says  he’s  allowed  to  visit.    this  side,    clint  has  decided  in  short  order,    sucks.    but  that  vise  in  his  chest  gets  a  little  looser  when  he  finally  sees  bucky,    looking  every  bit  like  he’s  gone  a  few  rounds  with  THE  ANGRY  GREEN  GIANT  himself,    but  he  cracks  a  joke,    and,    weirdly,    it  helps.

and hasn’t that been the pledge they'd made to one another ever since the beginning of it all? the world sure had done wonders to make sure that couldn’t happen—has wedged wars and the weight of years between them—but they’ve still managed to emerge at the end of the tunnel [ hands dirtied, bone weary, so much more battered and bruised than those boys who left brooklyn eighty years ago; but they’re home, now ]. thanos has been defeated for good, the stones returned to their rightful place, & perhaps most important of all: the mantle has been passed on to a man he believes is more than deserving of it. he’d almost expected to feel more… unmoored, without the familiar weight of it at his side  /  without the urge to curl his hands into fists on instinct; but it’s a strangely freeing feeling, like this was how it was supposed to be for a long time.
