Lowlander Winter IPA (Picked up at a Marqt in Amsterdam). A 3 of 4. Definitely smells of the spruce and juniper and some faint wheat notes. Drinks with much the same in the body with a few discordant notes here and there. Nice medium and slightly creamy body, with more spruce/juniper in the finish.

Parallel 49 Frosted Tips IPA
A frosty new wind has blown into town, and with it a new trend: the Winter IPA.
Alongside local debuts from Vancouver Island Brewing and Dead Frog we find Frosted Tips, Parallel 49’s entry into a new category. How new? This is officially the first review on Beer Me BC categorized as a “Winter IPA”.
You’d expect a beer with ‘winter’ in the name to have oodles of spices, or maybe vanilla and fudge…

Ecliptic Brewing has gone from concept to functioning brewery in less than a year. The pub is open and bottles are rolling out.
Apparently, Lompoc Brewing isn't the only place in town where you can get a hoppy beer this time of year. Filament is a winter IPA. That means it's rather heavy -- seven percent alcohol by volume -- and features a spicier flavor, not so citric. Filament has a bready malt flavor and a strong, lasting, peppery bitterness.
Now, I have to track down Illuminating the Path, the Ecliptic collaboration with Cigar City in Florida. It was brewed before the brewery opened, so only a small quantity made it here to Portland. Acai berries and hibiscus, marionberries and rose hips? Aged in pinot noir barrels? It sounds insane.
