#winter breaking

Finally. The end of first semester.

Again.

You’re peppier than you usually are when you prepare for your last lecture of the day. Of the year. Now you can focus on watching Christmas movies while drinking hot chocolate with your cats by your side. And most importantly, you get to play your violin in Christmas concerts.

You can’t help but feel a little down because you will not be seeing one of your favorite students after today. James Buchanan (or how he preferred to be called), Bucky Barnes quickly became your favorite as soon as he walked in the lecture hall. Tall, mysterious, dark, muscular, alluring. You knew it was inappropriate to feel this way, but he did seem around your age or even older. Being a college professor will do that to you, teaching people who are both younger and older than you. You’ve only been teaching for 3 years.

You assumed after today, you’d no longer see him again because he was not on your roster for next semester.

Until after class, he walks up to your desk after everyone else files out the room.

“Miss. L/n?” The brunette asks.

“Yes, Bucky?” You responded, looking up at him with those pretty eyes that made him weak in his knees. When Bucky saw you on the first day of class, he thought he was dreaming. Cause surely, his teacher couldn’t be so young and pretty? Most of his professors were either the same age or older than him but you… you had a youthfulness to you.

Your class quickly became his favorite to attend. And of course while he was genuinely interested in the topics, he was far more interested in the woman teaching them.

The brunette knows he only has one chance at you, and he isn’t going to blow it. “You doing anything for winter break?”

“Not much, just shopping, watching movies, playing concerts in the orchestra group I’m in.”

Bucky’s eyebrows raise in interest, “Orchestra, huh?”

Your cheeks flush slightly, “Yeah. I play the violin.”

“That’s really beautiful.”

Your eyes widen at his bold compliment. Sure, you’ve had your fair share of students trying to flirt with you because you’re young, but you never thought Bucky would be one of them.

“Thanks…”

“Look, since the semester is over, I want to ask you something.”

Is he really gonna ask what you think he’s asking?

“I’d like to take you out sometime. Maybe to eat, ice skating, whatever you want.”

“I’d love to…” you trail off thinking about how it’d make you look dating one of your former students. Your coworkers would have a field day. They already don’t take you seriously.

Bucky notices your hesitation, “But?”

“But it’s not appropriate.”

“I’m no longer your student, and I’m pretty sure I’m older than you.”

“Right. I guess, I just worry about what other people might say about it.”

“But you want it.” He states it like it’s a fact. Because, in all technicality, it is.

“Yeah…”

“So then say yes.” He pushes.
