Ace TV show recs: If you don't mind subtitles, I would recommend like 90% of Korean tv dramas! They are almost never have sexual material, and if they do, it's very tame. I like the romantic comedies mostly. But there are tons without much of a romantic plot for our fellow aros too! I personally watch them on dramafever but I pay a $5 monthly subscription. There are lots of free Korean drama streaming sites around tho (there can be ads however)! I love the drama "Goblin" right now!
Also, on the topic of South Korea, a member of a famous Kpop boy band recently came out as ace! I’m not into that band, so I can’t remember who it was off the top of my head…Anyone else a fan of this guy?
I don’t know of too many Korean shows with explicit positive queer rep, but yeah, you can certainly watch a few for non-sexual fun!
And that idol is Minsung, formerly known as Hansol from ToppDogg, which is know called Xeno-T. It’s complicated. Anyway, he left the band, which is almost certainly related to his coming out - but he’s a cool dance choreographer now! He’s known as Navinci and his independent work deals with queer themes, especially with hiding yourself, having different sides, etc. Without labeling him, I personally get some strong vibes about the battle between masculine and feminine - he’s always talking about how he contains both, and switches between them….
