(well actually it’s more complex and deep than that but those words work).
Heed all the tags, but trust me on this one, it is a MUST READ. Even if you are not too comfortable with the tags*. I’d say that it is actually very very okay.
The plot is magnificently thought out, the writing and descriptions of feelings is absolutely beautiful, the character dynamics in relation to each other is breathtaking.

This is a MUST READ fic. Honestly. READ IT. It’s the sort that sucks you into the universe and you forget you are currently in bed, it’s 4am and you’re not asleep coz you have been transported elsewhere.
* I’ll go in depth a bit to explain the tags (without spoilers), for those who feel wary to read this fic because of the tags. Because I think, it’s a pity if you don’t read this because of certain tags - since the main focus in the writing is more on emotions, trust, and character depth.
*In my opinion, most of the tags are there more for precautionary measure.
Some potential ‘red-light’ tags are; Dubious Consent, BDSM and Slavery - for Trinity. BDSM, Past Rape/Non-Con, Slavery and Dubious consent - for Volition.
For the record, there is No Sex Scene written at all in both the works mentioned above.
You would think there would be with those tags mentioned, but there are none. Sex is said to have happened as something that happened ‘off-screen’ or something that happened in the past. This is the same for the ‘Rape/Non-Con’ and the ‘Dubious Consent’ part which is tied in to the scene that involves the ‘Past Rape/Non-Con’.
As for the BDSM tag, it’s the universe setting of dynamics - of Dom’s and Sub’s and neutrals - which again, does not involve any sexual acts at all. It’s more of a trust and ‘headspace’ thing. There is use of the ‘voice’ concept popular in some D/S fics, but both Doms and Subs have a ‘voice’ which they can use if they decide to.
Slavery tag is quite typical, what with HYDRA involved and Bucky being held by HYDRA against his will. So that part is slavery yes, but not for long. There are some aspects of torture described during the ‘slavery’ part of the fic. Torture such as ‘electric shocks, degrading of a character, forcing a character to commit murder against their will’. - I think this is an expected thing to have in fics that involve Bucky and HYDRA. So, it’s business as usual.
Dubious Consent. - Everything that happens while in Slavery is dubious consent, since the character obviously does not want to be enslaved. There is no sexual act between the main characters that includes dubious consent. Perhaps the dubious consent is because there’s matters like ‘trust’ being discussed and conflicting feelings by the characters. But it is not sexual. As stated above, I think the tag is more for that scene on ‘past-rape/non-con’, which was only written as a thing that happened in the past. With maybe only two (or three) sentences that was anything remotely close to a description of the act.
Okay, I think that covers it. Please note this is all just in my opinion/ understanding of things. If you are a person who has triggers or squicks, then ultimately it is a decision for yourself if you’d like to read or not.
Otherwise. I’d say this is too damn good a fic to just let pass if you are only slightly uncertain because of the tags. Give it a go ;)

Arts and Crafts in the Shatterdome by steelplatedhearts is the first. Funny and heart-rending, the author’s world-building is complex and utterly believable. Rated G.
And the slightly racier, but still G rated, Visual Appreciation by windsweptfic . I can’t get through this fic without laughing like a mad woman because the author truly taps into the shameless hotness of Hercules Hansen.
