hope you don't mind me asking randomly here! but what makes lio happy? like incredibly so?

at the risk of sounding like a broken record.. when it comes to anything, lio is at his happiest when his fellow burnish are. when he can spend time with them, laugh with them, relax with them — he’d lost touch of the life he’d known before becoming a burnish, and after joining them, found a kind of family that he longed to have. 

he wanted to make a city for them. because against all odds, he knew that they deserved a better way of life. he intended to make that happen any way he could, and when it was ripped away from him he’s ( rightfully ) furious. life with the burnish is one of the reasons he strived so hard with what he did. they make him happy. 

apart from them — he’s actually rather fond of a certain firefighter. bonding with someone outside of the burnish and especially that a non-burnish was so quick and willing to change for him, to believe him, to believe in him.. really meant a lot to him. it’s one of those things where you get so emotional that you get goosebumps. smaller things outside of this: he likes to sleep. spend time with people, no matter what it is they’re doing, but especially when it’s something that he can do easily and without worry. anything that he can do without fear or worry is something he enjoys, anything that makes others happy ( —those he cares for, in particular, ) makes him happy too !

his interests outside of this are pretty much anything punk. he likes the accessories, the morality, aesthetic. motorcycles? sick as hell. i imagine he probably enjoyed his time spent on detroit ( his bike ) a lot. being able to ride no matter what time of day it is, to live as his true self away from the eyes of outsiders, to breathe in the air no matter how wretched their terrain had become. to live. 

i hope u don’t mind me publishing this publicly since i wanna use this chance to ramble about some headcanons i have!! i had been tossing around names for a while, but i think i’ve finally decided to settle on setareh! it means ‘star’ or ‘fate’ in persian, which is one of the cultures almyra was based on!! his wyvern is female! i got the name from a fic i read and it rly stuck with him ( though how claude obtains her is much more different ).

i rambled on twitter about how he obtained her, but claude’s personal wyvern is the white one he receives with his barbarossa promotion ( the brown one he gets during his wyvern master promotion being just a temporary mount ). 

almyran royalties get their wyverns much earlier than usual almyran generals, during their childhood. it’s important for almyran nobles to bond with their wyvern, as they’re always going to be their life partners and the one other living being they’ll ever depend on seeing how hard they are to take down and how long they live for, so they usually start them off early with just raising an egg, usually at the age of 10-12. claude was no different, being the crown prince and all. while others had received normal colour wyverns ( brown in shade ), claude’s was very different. it came out as white, which is a rarity - and usually a cause for alarm, as most believe that a wyvern that colour is unnatural, sick and weak and needs to be put down.

and that’s almost what happened, but claude fought for her. tiny fists flew, teeth biting at soldiers who were going to kill her. eventually, nader had to step in and stop it all, but it ended with claude keeping her. his father was hesitant about letting him keep her, especially considering claude was already getting targeted, he wanted his son to have the strongest wyvern there was, but claude’s mother stepped in and put her foot down - and the king of almyra always listens to his wife.

wyverns are smart creatures, even at a young age. she saw that claude had fought for her, nearly got himself killed for her. their bond had started the minute claude stepped between her and the soldier that tried to kill her. ever since, she trailed after him, glared daggers at anyone who tried to approach, even tried to follow him to fodlan. and claude had done the same for her.

There was something about this girl that seemed... familiar.

He had spent a good portion of time watching her from a distance. While situating himself in this city he’d spotted her from the corner of his eye, and simply stopped, trying to assess who she was. Was she one of the students from Garreg Mach? It was possible, he hadn’t seen most of those students in five years---hard to say what they looked like now.

But she stuck out in particular for some reason.

Perhaps it was someone that was in his classes often? He probably would have remembered at least her name were that true. Sighing lightly he gave up trying to remember, and, despite his reluctance to do so, decided it was best to go over and speak with her.

“Excuse me,” he spoke as he approached, not bothering to take her by surprise---she’d likely seen him watching her by now anyway. “Did you by chance attend Garreg Mach...”

             ❛   ... No.   ❜   SHE   pauses, but not out of hesitation. Flaws are a tricky thing --- because usually the flaws other people think you have aren’t the flaws you’d give yourself. Ruby’s been made aware of plenty of perceived flaws over the years. 

       You’re too childish.         You’re too reckless.        You aren’t fit to lead.        Your voice is annoying. You’re annoying.        You’re too innocent. You’re naive.        You care too much.        You push too hard.         You’re a push-over.         You sound just like your mother.

       And each time she heard of a new one, it sunk to the bottom of her stomach like a heavy stone; when she was younger, she absorbed every bit of criticism as if it were fact. But now... She’s had plenty of trials by fire --- and although some of those flaws may very well hold true, she’s had some positive reinforcement to drown them out.

       You’re so strong.        How can you not be afraid ?        I think you have what it takes to be a great leader...        ... Just know that I am going to be the best teammate you’ll ever have.         You always do.        I love you.        I’m so proud of you !        We’ll follow your lead, Ruby.        You sound just like your mother.
