The companies will develop a pipeline of solar and energy storage assets in Arizona and surrounding states, with projects expected to start construction gradually between 2023-2025. The deal represents Denmark-based European Energy’s largest move in the renewables space in the US and builds upon its recently announced ambition to 10 GW of projects in the country by 2026.

The company has raised the capital through loans from a range of lenders, including multilateral financial institutions such as the European Investment Bank (EIB) and export credit agencies such as Instituto de Crédito Oficial, European Export Credit Agency, and Denmark-based EKF. BNP Paribas, CaixaBank, and Banco Santander are some of the other lenders that have supported Iberdrola this year. As of November 7th, 2022, Iberdrola holds more than €44.6bn in outstanding debt, of which over €22.7bn corresponds to green financing and ~€21bn originates from credit lines, loans, or commercial paper programs. 

Vector Green Energy was established in 2017 by Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP). The company’s portfolio includes more than 652 MW of solar PV and wind assets spread across thirteen Indian states. The company also has ~1 GW of investment-ready solar projects and ~1.2 GW of solar projects in the pipeline.

ClearGen has acquired stakes in 25 operational wind farms from Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG). Goldman Sachs supported the acquisition through a tax equity investment to ClearGen. As per Enerdatics’ research, the move marks ClearGen’s entry into the onshore wind space in the United States, expanding its portfolio of diversified, contracted renewable energy assets.
