Due to February’s short 28 days, the first of March always sneaks right up on me. February, as a music fan is one of my favorite months of the year. February is #blackhistorymonth and a month to reflect for most on what I reflect on all year. The monumental influence on popular music by African American people. You like rock and roll, jazz, the blues, soul, R&B, or hip hop? TRY imagining those incredible genres without the influence of black people. Hell, try to imagine them existing AT ALL without black people. Unfortunately for us, we seem to live in a world determined to separate itself in one way or another. As an American I’m ashamed to say that throughout my country’s existence that way has often been through something as ridiculous as the color of one’s skin. As a father, I dream that my daughter’s generation will make the most strides of any generation before hers towards ending the awful racism and division that has separate us as God’s children for so long. I know that today marks the end of Black History Month, and to celebrate it, I have 28 albums by 28 black artists that mean the absolute world to me, but on this day and every day forward let us as people strive towards a society free from racism, sexism, classism...and let’s join together as people of this planet to live and work together in peace, harmony, and prosperity. Happy #blackhistorymonth everyone! ✊🏻✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 #nowspinning #vinyl #vinyligclub #vinyljunkie #vinylcollection #vinylcollectionpost #vinylcommunity #vinylcommunitypost #vinyloftheday #vinylgen_feature #vinyllover #the405mag #recordcollection #deathtodigital #digitalsucks #happinessisloudtunes #therevolutionwillnotbedigital #vinylisforeveryone #johncoltrane #raycharles #samcooke #milesdavis #2pac #muddywaters #steviewonder #marvingaye #algreen #jimihendrix #outkast #jayz #thenotoriousbig #bobmarley #otisredding #drdre #kendricklamar #snoopdogg#wilsonpicket #theloniousmonk #sonnyclark #erykahbadu
