im a katniss and peeta have a third baby truther btw . also one thing suzanne did wrong truly was give them a son. three daughters for them. katniss and peeta are both girldads at heart.
I wonder what came to be of Snow's granddaughter. We don't know much about Snow's children, but it's highly possible that they would go into hiding or at least keep a low profile, or maybe they would be charged for some crimes (again, there isn't enough information about them). But what about the girl?
I like the idea of Tigris somehow reaching out after the revolution, feeling protective of her. She would help her understand more about their family's past and ensure she was better than them. And after that, who knows? Maybe she moves to one of the Districts (if they still exist as we have known them) and lives far away from the Snow legacy.
.
.
.
And then I got carried away and started to imagine a story about Katniss' daughter and Snow's great-granddaughter meeting each other as teens/young adults. Because drama.
- Haymitch catches toastbaby girl sneaking out or stealing liquor, etc.
- haymitch babysitting the toasties
-haymitch walking in on everlark having sex (theyâre 19/20)
- katniss sees her daughter at three slag heap
Ohh I went ahead with the babysitting prompt! SO sweet. Also yes I failed the 'under a 100 word' clause of this. Does anyone mind? I doubt it XD.
"Go on. I got everything covered, girl." Haymitch says, as if it makes her any more confident. The boy takes her hand and gives her that smile, the one that Haymitch knows is probabbly the closest thing to a soft spot Katniss has.
Or one of them. The other is playing on the floor with a wooden deer and stuffed fox. Pretending to not be thoroughly annoyed by this.
They manage to leave, and he turns to the girl stareing at her toys with an inherited scowl. Haymitch thinks that might just be his ticket to surviving this night.
Willow Everdeen is her mothers daughter after all, so he goes into the kitchen and finds the cookies Peeta left. That, and opening negotiations about attending a tea party with a fox and deer seems to warm the toddler up a bit.
Her favorite uncle
Another short story about teenage Willow Everdeen Mellark, but this time at her home in District 12. She sneaked out to have some fun with her friends at night, and now she must face her parents. But no worries, uncle Haymitch is there to save the day, well kind of. I just wanted to write something about Haymitch being an old uncle/grandpa figure to Katniss and Peeta's daughter. In my mind she can be quite rebellious and impulsive, while still loving her family and wanting to make them proud. But she's also young and wants to have fun. I like thinking that between her and Haymitch there is a special bond, he listens to her and tries his best to guide her. And she trusts him deeply. Also, Willow and her brother (Rye) do get along and love each other, I just didn't develop their relationship that much this time. tw: mentions of underage drinking
The treacherous keys slip from my hands and hit the ground. I curse under my breath. At this pace, thereâs no way Iâll get in the house without making any noise. Great. My headâs killing me and now Iâll have to come up with an excuse to explain my night out. I can see my parentsâ face already. I think about my brother, biting his tongue, acting like he doesnât know anything about me sneaking out. Heâd never snitch on me, but I know how much he hates secrets. In this family trust is everything, and I respect that. But I just wanted to have some fun with my friends. Is that so wrong?
Under the night sky, I struggle to see the keys, and the drunkenness doesnât help much. I finally find them and continue on my way, dragging my feet. I'm about to resign myself to the consequences when I notice light coming from Haymitchâs kitchen. Could he be awake at this hour? Honestly, it wouldnât surprise me. Curiosity drives me to stealthily approach his window and when I take a peek inside, I jump back startled. Sitting at the table, drinking something hot, is my old uncle Haymitch looking at me without an ounce of surprise. My mind is still somewhat confused, but if one thingâs for sure, is that Iâm in trouble. And he knows it too. He points at the door with his thumb and his eyes leave no space for refusal.
As I enter the kitchen, I'm enveloped by the smell of coffee. With his back to me, he's making a second cup. I sit down and place my head on my arms. Â
"So, tell me, did you have fun, little one?" he asks handing me the drink.
"How did you know?" I mumble with my eyes closed.
"Your brother called me" I lift my head so fast I get dizzy.
"Hey, you know itâs not his fault. Heâs just worried about you. You should be thankful he didnât tell your parents, honey" and heâs right. I canât blame Rye for anything. Iâm the one who broke the rules.
"What about you? Why didnât you say anything?"
"I think youâre old enough to fend for yourself. But if they find out, I wonât deny anything, you hear me?" he declares with an accusing finger.
"Thank you Haymitch" I offer him one of those smiles I use to soften him. They always work, even if he denies it.
"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Now drink your coffee and tell me what youâve been up to over there"
Thereâs no point in hiding anything to him, he can read my mind without trying. So, I tell him all about the laughs, the dancing, the drinking and the gossip. We keep talking until dawn, and, even though he doesnât judge me for my juvenile adventures, he asks me to be more responsible next time. Especially with my drinking. At times like this I wonder how his life used to be before I was born. Even if my family tries to be as honest as possible about their past, I know thereâre things that are just too hard to explain. I understand that, so I donât pressure them, but sometimes I canât help but think about it.
When the phone rings, Haymitch tells my mom I had agreed to help him with his geese that morning. Apparently, I was so excited with the task that I had woken up extra early to enjoy breakfast with my favorite uncle. I doubt she bought it, but she didnât ask more questions. Later I understand that she just wanted to laugh at my disastrous attempt to deal with those wild animals. Well, at least someoneâs having a good time. With that said, I think I wonât drink again for a long, long time.

The labyrinth
Summary: Willow Everdeen Mellark arrives at the University in the Capitol and meets her roommate, a strange girl with light hair. How will their first encounter go? This is a short AU set roughly 30 years after the events of Mockingjay. It explores Willow's first time at the Capitol, her ideas about its people and the beggining of a friendship, or maybe more. Cassie or Cassandra is an original character with an interesting family history (guess who she is related to). I might turn this into a proper fic one day, but for now this is a glimpse of what could be. With no further ado, enjoy!
On the way to the University, I take in everything around me. Buildings, stores, vehicles, people. Above all, people. The images from home really do not do justice to the riotous aesthetics of the Capitol citizens. An amalgam of colors, fabrics and shapes swirls through the window and I almost get dizzy. But I force myself to keep watching. After all, this is what I wanted right? To experience this unknown world far from my simple District 12.
I stop for a second thinking of my mother. Right now, she's probably hunting in the woods to avoid her thoughts. To avoid any thought about her daughter stuck in the middle of this enormous city, which must have left so many memories marked on her skin.
The driver's voice brings me back to reality, announcing our arrival. I pay and thank him before getting out, coming face to face with the most imposing structure Iâve ever seen. Ancient columns, tall carved gates, and a pristine staircase dominate the entrance, packed with students.
I feel a tickling in my chest as I walk into the crowd. Several heads follow me as I pass, probably noticing that I'm not from around here. Although it is nothing new for districts to send their children to study at the Capitol, the numbers remain low. I wink at them without thinking twice, causing a few blushes, before leaving them behind.
After putting some documents in order, I finally head to what will be my bedroom for the next few years. I wonder if my partner has arrived yet. Will she be from a District like me? That would make the transition easier. Although, challenges never scared me, anyway.
As I get to the last hallway, I see that the door is already open. Looks like I won't be able to choose the bed. Whatever, it's time for the truth. I knock to get her attention, and she quickly turns around. The morning light reflects on her bright hair, and her eyes stay fixed on me. What a strange girl. She stands petrified, her next move undecipherable. Is she scared of me? Maybe Capitol people are as exaggerated as everyone says. Well, Effie is living proof of that, but that's part of her charm. If anything, my experience with my aunt gives me an advantage now. So, I offer her my hand.
âHi, nice to meet you. You must be my roommate. I'm Willow.â
She blinks a few times, as if waking up. She gets closer to shake my hand and her floral scent reaches my nose. When we touch, I feel her silk like skin. And the coldness of her fingers.
âIâm Cassie. Sorry, I swear I'm not always like this. I'm still getting used to this place and my head is a mess.â
Her voice is sweet, but it doesnât have the ring I was expecting from a Capitol girl. I take a better look at her clothes and I realize sheâs far from those characters I drove by today. Was I mistaken?
âIt's okay. I get what you mean. Itâs all new to me here. The Capitol's sure bigger than it looks on TV, huh?â
I was waiting for her to boast proudly about everything this city had to offer to its newcomers, like any citizen would do. But it didnât happen.
âYeah, ever since Iâve got here, Iâve felt like I'm in a huge labyrinth.â
She looks away, and I notice how she rubs her hands nervously. She reminds me of my brother, when he gets carried away with worry instead of facing his problems. And if there's one thing I'm good at, is at getting him out of his head.
âWell, seems like luckâs on our side.â I say arranging my bags on the empty bed.
âWhat do you mean?â She asks me with a raised eyebrow.
âIf we wanna make it out of the labyrinth, we'll have a better chance together, right?â
It takes her a few seconds to get what I mean, but when she does, my pulse quickens. She smiles. And then I realize. She is not strange. She is beautiful.
"Me llamo Cassie.
"¿A qué te refieres?"
Y entonces me doy cuenta. No es extraña. Es hermosa.
The girl under water
Here is something I came up with while thinking of Katniss and Peeta's daughter. This is my interpretation of what her as a teenage/young adult would think, while swimming in the lake of District 12. She's going through something at the moment and she's trying to relax in a familiar place. I might write a full story one day, I kinda want to now. I have a few ideas for the plot, but not the whole thing yet. I would love to be as faithful as possible to the source material, while exploring interesting and meaningful topics. On a side note, I've seen people say that her name could be Willow, and I like it! It follows the pattern of naming the Everdeens as plants, each one with a significant meaning behind. From what I gathered, willows symbolize rebirth, resilience and survival but also grief, and they tend to be associated with water.
"Time seemed to stretch out beneath the water. Distant sounds, blurry lines, everything mixed and intertwined in that liquid world. Even the weight of the body ceased to exist. It was the perfect place to drown oneâs thoughts. Would flying be the opposite? With the senses as sharp as a needle and the awareness of the abyss at your feet? Maybe she would never soar the skies as birds did, but losing herself in the depths of the lake was part of her essence already."
