Brooklyn Army Terminal, 1949 📸 Andreas Feininger Designed by Woolworth Building architect Cass Gilbert and opened in 1919, the 95-acre Brooklyn Army Terminal in Sunset Park was one of the largest concrete structures in the world. The complex opened at the conclusion of World War I and used for various purposes over the years including a military prison and storage space for alcohol and drugs during Prohibition. During World War II it was the largest military supply base in the country.
