#GodzillaSingularPoint. A solid title from #Spring2021 but got jailed on Netflix, and I was only able to watch it now. Must say, this was a great sci-fi take on Godzilla. SP's set in 2030 where dinosaur-like beings called Radons start resurfacing and it's up to Yun Arikawa and Mei Kamino how they can save the world. When you think about Godzilla, you'd immediately go to the classic image of it rampaging in the middle of the city. Well, SP's take on hits differently because it's fresh and original for an otherwise 'almost-tired' story. The addition of technology, AI, and elements of mystery and time travel really brings Godzilla to a new light. While it goes on to wreak havok again, it's the story of how everyone tried and eventually succeeded in stopping the mayhem and the Red Dust. It has a Western feel to it, but what amazes me is how well-written the script was. It can be overwhelming listening to all these sci-fi terms, but it's the animation itself and visualization of these concepts that make them a little easier to digest - whether it's Ashihara's theories, Mei's 6=9, Yun's code talk. You also have characters to root for like Yun (spitting image of Gintoki Sakata), Mei, Pelops II, Yung aka Jet Jaguar, Mr. O, and my personal fave Haberu - so happy to see him because he's not your typical big dude who only has muscles for brains, but is someone who can actually level well with Yun and Mei's intelligence. Next, the art itself. For some reason, the character design and overall color grading and texturing felt so nostalgic like 90s or early 2000s. And everyone's physiques also kept catching my eye, like their arms aren't just there for show, but have actual shape and tension. Then there's the battle sequences which were so smooth and seamless, despite the obvious use of a different program, which I didn't really mind. Oh and almost forgot, feature of Indian culture was a really nice touch from the enchanting lullaby to SHIVA itself who's the God of Death or the Destroyer, which sort of goes against the facility's use. Haha! I'm really just happy that I found time to watch this last night and today. This one's 9/10 for me. Now where's my S2? https://www.instagram.com/p/ClJFqaSob7S/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
