And in e2 even when he’s away from the palace that pressure is still there. And showing the risk Wille is about to take by kissing Simon because having a queer monarch is so unheard of and unexpected.
And then in e6 when Wille is about to confirm or deny the video. Visually reminding us and Wille of what he is expected to represent and honor by being Crown Prince. “No more mistakes”
What I think was extra cruel in e6 was adding a specific shot of Erik. Wille not only has pressure as Crown Prince but to be as good of and an even better one than Erik was. A different kind of legacy to uphold because 1. It was so recent and 2. They’re brothers. Their relationship had more to do with them both just being “royal blood” like Wille’s relationship with the other portraits and pictures looking down on him
And then of course this shot after Wille denied it was him in the video (which I did a separate analysis post on) the larger portrait showing the immense pressure Wille was under and falls victim to
