The man looked at her silently, before turning back and looking over the cliff once more.

"Not from you, I'm afraid."

He watched the road down below, it was quiet. There were a few thieves and the like every now and again, but apart from that, it was mostly just an empty dirt road.

"Are you running from something, Mrs. Adler?"

His eyebrow raised in curiosity, his mouth remained neutral.

jack's face twisted in frustration , dark brown eyes burning with defiance as he took a step back from sadie .

'' no ! i can take care of my fuckin’ self ! '' his tone was sharp , edged with the unmistakable sting of years of loss and anger . chest rose and fell heavily as he glared at her .

Soft like wax, sharp as an axe. One never truly knows which they’ll get in Emily’s wake. Emily, who adapts with the seasons—much less towards people, but business needed to be made. It had been caught in the act, standing over the half-devoured body of a man in the dark evening.

Looking up, the monster froze. Its inky black eyes bore into her, at first unsure of what to do. Faced with the barrel of a gun, anyone would be hesitant. A quiet snarl came from the frightened beast, and it trembled slightly before abruptly bending down, ripping loose another chunk of meat, and attempting its escape with a mouthful of human flesh.

It was going into hiding.

It had little plans of risking its life to kill again.

" i don't want this , " gale says , brushing away sadie's outstretched hand with a flick of her own . the small gift sadie was offering simply didn't meet gale's expectations . in gale's mind , she deserved lavish presents , not . . . whatever that pitiful thing was supposed to be . even as a little girl , gale was like that .

It was a lazy evening, so to speak. The feline woman leaned back against Sadie as she sprawled out comfortably against her lap. A low purr leaves her, stub tail idly swishing behind her as her golden eyes look up at the mercenary with a delightful grin. ❝You're sooo comfy, Sadie! Makes me not want to go anywhere.❞ She giggled, reaching up to boop her nose with a grin. ❝Where you wanna go?❞
