i think it's safe to say that i've barely been on here, if at all, and so i'm hesitantly announcing that this blog will be on an hiatus. for how long? i've no idea whenever Em decides it's time for her to emerge from her cave ig. i don't plan on archiving this blog any time soon, but if it happens, i'll let y'all know. all who's left anyway LOL.
all threads are put on indefinite hold or closed if my partners choose to do so.
this isn't a goodbye, but it's been such a pleasure writing + plotting with the lot of you. i hope we can do it again, whenever that may be. :')

emily returns home after decade long search and journey of self discovery.
The call of sea gulls is a good sign that land soon approaches. The sound prompts Emily to head up to the deck. Early morning fog still disrupts visibility, but there’s a faint light at the end of the horizon. A distinct lighthouse. The sun peers through the fog, illuminating the city she once called home: Boston. The crisp autumn breeze fills her nostrils as she takes a deep breath. It smells like home, looks like home, but does it still feel like home, she wonders?
Docking onto the pier is both a relief and a discomfort akin to a phantom ache. Her aversion for sailing the open seas has thankfully dissipated over time, but now, being on land feels more peculiar. Making her way off the docks—the transition from the wooden planks to the cobblestone streets—it occurs to her that so much has changed, but so much of it hasn’t either. The city is teeming with more life, bustling at every corner she turns. Taking a stroll down memory lane sounds tempting, but she yearns for something more grounding.
The Frontier.
Of all her travels, she has never felt more at home than the unknown of the frontier.
Yet even here, it seems, much has changed. The unknown takes on a different meaning, not in regard to the evolution of Mother Nature. There are more towns out here than she remembered, nestled between the trees she’d been accustomed to. the Kanien'kehá:ka are far and few in between—either fled west to avoid more conflict with the settlers, or have disappeared altogether. Uneasiness settled into the pit of her stomach seeing this and realizing the climate in this land has changed. Though she has only one set destination in mind: the Davenport Homestead. Emily wonders how much it has changed over the years. Who remains, who left, if the town is still intact?
If he’s still there maintaining it all, as he usually does—Ratonhnhaké:ton.
Muddied boots stop just before the mossy log that lays along the cliffside of the Homestead. Emily releases a long sigh of relief. The Homestead seems like it’s still alive and well. As the sun sets along the shoreline, its orange-red hues blanket the entire Homestead in its warm glow. A light fog slowly creeps into the bay. At least this place still feels like home, though Emily isn’t quite ready to greet familiar faces. So she makes her way through the thicket of trees—actually, there are far less this time with the Homestead steadily growing with more homes. It’s a relief to hear voices in the distance; a community still remains.
Emily eventually finds herself behind the Davenport manor at the edge of the cliff, overlooking the ocean from whence she came. The crisp breeze welcomes her again and gently peels the stray hairs off her face. Much of Emily has changed as well. Her hair is tied back in a long braid, hanging just past the middle of her back. She’s gained a few wisdom lines around her eyes and mouth, though, hardly noticeable to another’s eye. There are more scars she’s collected scattered across her body. Her eyes are hardened from the trials she’d been given in her time abroad. Beside her feet, there is a bag with the only possession she brought back—Shao Jun’s robe. Her ancestor’s relic. That is all that remains from her search.
Her eyes, although worn and darkened, soften now. Her brows no longer knitted so tightly; her shoulders fall and relax. Back then, this was her spot to unravel.
And now, she allows herself to unravel once more.
Grief inevitably floats to the surface—its unforgiving wave pulls her down into the undertow. Her breath hitches as the years of pain, anger, and agony settles as a huge lump in her throat. All of it begging to finally be known, to finally be acknowledged. Her brows knit once more, lips trembling as tears well up in the corner of her eyes. Emily falls to her knees, unable to stand the weight of it anymore. Tears gush down her cheeks as she breaks into a gut wrenching sob. A decade of loss, sacrifice, and endless fighting finally makes its swan song. A final show to an audience of none but herself. She hunches over, wrapping herself in her own arms. In a Homestead bustling with life, she finds herself alone once again. She returns to a place that still feels like home, but while everyone else has moved on, she remains feeling frozen in time.

just wanted to check in and see what's been happening—what new character developments & plots have been brewing up while i've been away. it's all been exciting to see! i never know how much writing + rping i'll get done in a year, but i'm hoping for more in the very near future. and maybe actually continuing some threads that have been sitting in my drafts for months lmao :'))
hope you've all been doing well, or doing the best you can. i miss you all! 💖
fighter: What's your muse's fighting style? Are there any weapons your muse is comfortable with, or a weapon they'd like to learn to use? What drives them to fight?
d&d character class asks — accepting.
Emily's fighting style + weapon of choice are explained further HERE! but her fighting style in general is essentially fluid, long range attacks. in close proximity, she uses her opponent's movements against them (redirecting their punches or swings), flowing in and out of their way. she also uses her own momentum to propel her strikes.
i imagine she eventually picks up a bow + arrow and learns archery. she also has grown quite fond of air rifles, particularly ones that shoots poison darts. just poison darts in general. as much as she dislikes the obnoxious sound of a firearm, she'd be willing to learn how to use a rifle at the very least. overall, she's pretty open to learning how to use a weapon so long as it's also long range.
initially her reason to fight is mainly because of the civil unrest in Boston: to protect herself, her family, and her community. but as her story unfolds, it becomes unclear. her character development revolves around figuring out who and what she's fighting for, if any of it was worth it, and the boiling anger that lays dormant within that collected demeanor.
sorcerer: What are your muse's natural talents? Have they taken the time to hone those skills? Do they like to show off, or are they quiet about their abilities?
d&d character class asks — accepting.
technically, Em's Eagle Vision is a natural talent. more is explained through the link, but essentially her 'natural talent' is the art of observation. she's always had an attention to detail, whether it's the type of fiber on a coat or a close estimate on how fresh a stag's tracks are. it comes in handy when she's hunting, and over the years, she's come to hone her Eagle Vision and make it her own. she's able to pick up on her target's energy—emotions, sometimes intentions. however, it takes a toll on her physically, ie exhaustion, so she only goes that far if she's deep into an investigation or mission.
she's not one to show off in general, so definitely not with her abilities. especially this one. if anyone suspects or asks her about it, she just shrugs it off as intuition.
also, it's not so much as a talent as it is a matter of fact, but Emily has always been pretty nimble. you'll never have to worry about accidentally bumping into her—she'll side-step out of the way before you even know that you stumbled over an uneven pavement!
