Mental health has many schools of thought but I'm practicing first and foremost as a clinical social worker. Social work is really broad and has a complicated history with charity, white saviorism, racism and other pernicious ideologies. Today, the NASW Code of Ethics guides our practice to challenge these roots and embed a sense of social justice in everything we do. In honor of Black History month, I'm going to be doing #whitehomework. I'm a white woman who's clients are disproportionately people of color, knowing that my work may very well replicate traumas of racism I'm setting a personal and professional intention to learning about racism, anti-racism, and liberation-based practices. Please join me this month, share what you're learning or share people/concepts/events/policies that you know to be important for doing anti-racist work. . . . #mentalhealth #clinicalsocialworker #socialwork #nasw #codeofethics #socialjustice #blackhistory #blackhistoryisamericanhistory #blackfutures #blackfuturesmonth #blackfuturesmatter #blacknow #blacknowstory (at Occupied Duwamish Territory) https://www.instagram.com/p/CKwkH8Ujhxf/?igshid=19c8lewuzipv1
