         alright whit. you can do this. she’s just a girl. you’ve talked to girls before! hell, all of your closest friends are girls! sure, that hasn’t stopped your heart from pounding or your hands from trembling so far, but no doubt, if you keep reminding yourself you’re being stupid it’ll get easier, right?         whit groans a bit out loud, nauseated and frustrated by their own inner monologue and throws themself forward, catching themself on the table the other sits at, an awkward grin cracking their pale features. “hey -- uh. i dig your nail polish.”

[text: michael - 9:02 AM] hey, i’m officially ditching class today because i’m fucking tired of listening to my professor butcher the history of the salem witch trials[text: michael - 9:02 AM] do you wanna start day drinking dangerously early and blow off some steam? play some video games or some other kinda macho shit.[text: michael - 9:02 AM] throw a football around, punch each other.[text: michael - 9:02 AM] whatever it is cool guys like u are into.

“No, that totally makes sense,” Whit muses, still sort of processing what she said as they speak, taking a long drink of their cider. “I mean, what are we when we aren’t being what people expect us to be, right? Like, when the lights are low, and there’s no eyes on us, what do we become? Are we the person we are with our loved ones or the person we are alone?” They wonder if they’re not quite connecting with what Dawn said so they bring it back. “Everything feels so... intangible sometimes, like it’s all just in your head because y’know, this--” They gesture broadly around themselves. “Is kind of like.. temporary. Liminal.”  They take another sip. “Oh, shit, my turn? Oh. Ghosts, totally. Next question.”
