The clouds in the sky promised an imminent storm, anytime soon. He was hoping for it, taverns were the most interesting places, full of people who had plenty to hide. Lucifer knew how those looked. Nervous, sweating, with their eyes darting around. Jumping at the slightest sound. Often they had commited a crime and were sought after by soldiers. Other times they did something in their own house and the guilt was eating them alive. It was delicious. Corpses in the front yard, affairs, bribery...
A busty blonde was sitting on his lap, giggling at what he said and Lucifer kept her entertained, even though it should be the other way around. “If I weren’t busy looking someone I could flog, I’d go get a room with you, darling.” he drawled with a toothy smile. She gave a mildly confused look at that, then arched her brows. “You can flog me anytime.” They both laughed together. “Does that cost extra?” He was clad in expensive, silken clothes and radiated wealthiness, and everything was about money. Humans played by simple rules.
The sound of the door caught his interested. It had just started to rain and some of the heavy drops were pushed into the warm tavern by the wind. “Oh dear, it’s getting drafty.” He moved her off his lap and was curious to see who might walk in now. “Be a darling and get me another glass of wine, love.” And of course she did, she’d do everything for him in the current state.
