okay so like. I go back and rewatch episodes of Doctor Who, right? and I tend to live in the Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi eras, but I obviously still enjoy the ones helmed by Christopher Eccleston (i mean, look, you started the revival, how can I not like you??) David Tennant (some of my fave eps are from his time as the Doctor) and Jodie Whittaker (I think her seasons are underrated for a NUMBER of reasons, not the least of which being that they're really Earth heavy).
Anyway.
Currently halfway through Jodie's second season, and it just hit me that the TARDIS Jo Martin's Doctor resurrects is eerily similar to the very first TARDIS from Classic Who and. The Classic Who parallels in Jodie Whittaker's seasons are so good. Like yeah yeah yeah I get that Jodie wasn't a terribly popular iteration but I feel like the writers had such a clear reverence for the OG material they were working with, the nature of DW as an innovative Sci-Fi show that reinvents itself often, and the vehicle that DW can be for conveying thoughtful and/or important messages to its viewers. Ugh, I love it here.
No wait but you know how any good romantic relationship needs commitment to make it something, and how commitment is an essential part of love in general? The staying? The sticking with? The promise?
Merlinās about the commitment of friendship, the duty to oneās friends. Commitment to serving anotherās good and helping them grow to their truest best selves.
