will pay big bucks for any kind of oneshot involving calamari
well I mean if u payin…
Viktor Kirsch pulled onto the driveway of the home he shared with his sister, niece and surrogate niece in a way that was all together too fast and terrifying. In the back seat, Shane Campbell’s fingernails dug into the leather of the seat she was sat on and her dark eyes went wide as the car came to a halt mere inches away from the garage door.
“Knulla farbror!” Elsa scolded her uncle from the front seat before twisting to look at Shane behind her. “How is the patient?” She asked, genuine concern ghosting across her pretty features.
“Only slightly less traumatised than I am.” Shane muttered as she reached over to pet Calamari gently on the head. “Remind me why we didn’t ask Oliver to drive us to pick Cal up from the vets?”
“Oli had lacrosse practice.” Elsa waved a hand in the air, shrugging off the idea that Oliver Blackwood should have driven them. Sure, Viktor’s driving was terrifying, but it was an experience and at least Calamari was back home again. You live and you learn, she thought.
Shane unclipped Calamari’s harness from the seat belt and smirked when the small pug turned to look at her, his wrinkled face enclosed by a large plastic cone. Scott had called it the ‘cone of shame’ when they’d picked Calamari up from the vets. But Shane thought it was rather becoming, more like a necklace of badassary. Exactly the kind of thing she’d be flaunting had she just had her testicles removed by a bald guy and a seventeen year old werewolf with absolutely no qualifications whatsoever. She scooped the small dog into her arms and clambered out of the car after Elsa who had gone ahead to unlock the front door.
Calamari whimpered in Shane’s arms and she nuzzled her nose against his face in a small sign of affection. “I think he misses them.” She mused, much to Elsa’s amusement who glanced back at her best friend as she tossed her house keys into the bowl by the front door.
“His balls?” She questioned, smirking when Shane nodded. “Understandable I guess.”
Oliver Blackwood appeared at that point, out of the kitchen wielding an arm full of new dog toys. He had a bone patterned blanket slung over his shoulder and a plate full of fresh chicken. “More than understandable Els!” Oliver chastised, closing the distance between himself and Shane at an alarming pace given the amount of dog paraphernalia he was holding. When he reached her retrieved a small piece of chicken and fed it to the pug. “This guy…you’ve put him through torture. You’re monsters, both of you.” Oliver took Calamari from Shane’s arms and walked with him back towards the kitchen. “Don’t worry,” Oli whispered, “I wont let the mean girls hurt you. Shh it’s ok, Oli is here.”
Shane moved to stand beside Elsa and the pair of them watched their best friend disappear further into their home.
“How did he even get in?” Elsa wondered aloud, Shane merely shrugged.
