14. (For authors) Post a line of dialogue from one of your WIPs without context.Â
âIâŚâ Molly hesitated and heheld is breath, silently begging her to say it, just this once.  "Ithink Iâm afraid to be in love with you.  Loving you just⌠happens,itâs as easy as breathing, but being in love feels like⌠ Idonât know.  Giving something up, almost.  Like, the way I love youis something⌠pure.  I donât need it to be validated with sex, orkisses or any kind ofâanythingâin return from you.â
(I know it says no context, but I canât help myself. From a WIP I havenât looked at since 6th September, with the working title of The Cottage. Itâs probably about ½ finished at 14k words)
15. Post the last line you wrote without context.
He was keenly aware that one day he wasgoing to run out of favors. Â If he already hadnât.

So âjealousâ wasnât in the Girlfriend WIP, but âjealousyâ is, so itâs close enough, right? (Iâm too lazy to start sorting through other things right now if I donât have to.)
âMollycouldnât voice her half-formed suspicions, though; Sherlock was morerabidly protective of Mary than heâd ever been of anyone (which wassomething else shedidnât want to think about, because any kind of jealousy was silly, and doubly so when they werenât even a proper couple andthe other woman was more-or-less happily married to and had a childwith his best friend) and he would surely take issue with anythingMolly said even when they werenâthaving a row. âÂ
Hello I wish you a wonderful day and 73 for the Drabble challenge please? Thank you x
I combined this ask with the next one, since theyjust flowed together again (sometimes it just happens). Â ItâsTom-verse, and itâs OTT cliched and angsty, but it just fell out thatway. Â I mean, the low-hanging fruit is there, why not pick it?
âIâm pregnant.â/ âItsure as hell changes things!â/ âAre you drunk?â
âAre you drunk?â
âNo,â Sherlock saidscornfully, unsure which John he should be focussing on. Â "Yes,âhe admitted.
"Itâs two in the afternoon, whyare you drinking? Â You never drink.â
âIâm pregnant, John.â
âUh huh.â
Sherlock shook his head, trying to getthe right words to fall out. Â "Weâre pregnant. Â Not you-us"he waved his finger at the space between them. Â "Molly isâ"he made another series of gestures to indicate her state and, just incase John wasnât sure how it got there, how it got there.
âMolly Hooper? Â Youâre sure youârenot just misreading something? Â You do, ah, tend to jump to the wrongconclusions around her.â
Sherlock held up the pregnancy test(the first one, the important one; heâd saved it).
âOh,â John said, looking atthe test. Â "Wow. Â Didnât even know she was seeing anyone. Â Goodon her, then, if thatâs what she wants.â
"What about what I want? Â I canâtbe a father. Â I canât even take care of myself. Â Look at this place! I had a bowl of crushed up Oreos and coffee whitener for breakfastbecause Mrs. Hudson was out and there wasnât anything else edible inthe flat,â he said miserably. Â Crises (existential, midlife, -ofconscience, spiritual or, in this case, identity) were not his area, but he was branching out and having one anyway. Â Doing it in style, too.
Johnâs face did a series of thingswhile he struggled his way through a thought until finally thelightbulb flickered. Â "So when you said âwe,â it really wasnâtjust you making it all about you. Â You, ah, actually had a hand init.â
"Not a hand, no,â he said. Though hands were involved at at least one point in the proceedings. Rather effectively, if he did say so himself.
âFunny, thatâs funny.  How longhave you two beenâŚ?â  He did another thing with his face andhis hands. Â
Sherlock eyed the half-full bottle ofscotch on the kitchen table (a gift from a client, had been saving itto regift to Mycroft when he was being particularly annoying; hewould think it was tampered-with and would never drink it, soultimately, the joke would be on him), willing it to float over andrefill his glass; he was starting to sober up and that was not whathe wanted to be at the moment.
âNot long, forever, take yourpick,â he said, giving up and sprawling back in his chair.
âNot sure what that even means, butâyeah.  Wow.â  John went to the kitchen and got down aglass, then poured himself two fingers from the bottle on the table. He emphatically did not top up Sherlockâs glass.  So much for 'bestfriends.â  "So, uh, what are you two going to do about it?  Areyou even together, as a⌠couple?â
"No idea. Â She said it didnât haveto change things. Â It sure as hell changes things! Â How am I supposedto sleep next to her now without being able to touch her? Â It washard enough before, but now that I know the promised land andsheâs carrying my childââ
âSo youâve been sleeping together, but not sleeping together.â Â It was a question.
âDo keep up. Â Honestly.â
âHow long?â
âThatâs a bit of a personalquestion, isnât it?â Sherlock deflected. Â John would be cross,he got cross over the silliest things.
John made a face. Â Cross.
âEver since I got back, more orless. Â I didnât like being alone.â Â He hated being drunk, hetalked too much. Â In vino veritas.
âBut she was engaged. Â Did allthree of youâ?â
âUgh, oh God no,â he said, shuddering for emphasis. Â "Though Iâm probably the reason theysplit.â
"Ya think? Â So what about sleepingtogether? Â Sex,â John clarified.
âA month, ish. Â Only twice. Â Well, three, if youâre countingââ
âIâm not counting anything,âJohn said, holding his hands up. Â "And wow, yeah, thatâs someluck. Â Only you.â
"Bloody well better be only me,âSherlock grumbled. Â Heâd know if she had a date or a one-night stand. Wouldnât he? Â John said it himself, there were very big things hemissed about Molly, more than once. Â He thought heâd got better atlooking for them since heâd been away, at seeing her, but whatif he really hadnât? Â And how the hell could he hope to raise a childwith her if he didnât even know what she was thinking or feeling?
He was not nearly drunk enough forthis. Â What he wouldnât do for the warm embrace of opiates rightthen, but that would surely mean the absolute end of it all. Â Heâdprobably never even get to see his childâs face, let alone be part ofits life.
âHow far along is she?â
âFive weeks, about. Â Just foundout last night. Â She texted me this morning after running a bloodtest on herself. Â Definitely pregnant.â
âWow,â John repeated. Â Wasthat the only thing people could say? Â "I can, ah, pass on thename of Maryâs midwife, if sheâs looking for someone. Â We liked her.â
"For all the good she did, youdelivered the baby yourself. Â Really still trying to delete thatwhole experience, by the way.â
âYeah, well, donât delete all ofit, in nine months you might need it.â
Sherlock felt queasy, and he knew itwasnât from the alcohol.  Or even the memory of Mary and blood andâŚfluids. Â
âYou alright, Sherlock? Â Youârelooking a bit pale. Â Should I get the bin?â
âI did this to her. Â Itâs not likeitâs just some inconvenience, like accidentally stepping on her footor shutting her finger in a door. Â I very well may have ruined herlife,â he said quietly, feeling the full weight of his guilt.
âOh forâyou are the worldâsbiggest drama queen. Â You should have your own reality show on telly. I know youâve failed to notice, but sheâs had feelings for you for avery long time and I have personally overheardher talking with Mary about wanting kids and time running out. Â Sonow, itâs really up to you get yourself sobered up, cleaned up, andnut up to go be there for her, because Iâm sure sheâs not having theeasiest time with this herself,â Captain John Watson said.
He tried to stop it, but a tiny tendrilof hope unfurled in his chest.
âBesides, I see how you are withRosie. Â You might not be a great father, but youâll be a good one.â
Hello to my favourite fic writer :) for your prompt challenge: AW and EM please. x
Boom, five prompts rolled into onegiant sitcom trope. Â I combined two asks for this, since one justkind of flowed into the other for me. Â Sorry Iâm making you guysshare. Â Also, could be vaguely Tom-verse.
âBut, I said I love you.â/ âBe serious for two minutes, please.â/ âArenât you supposed to be the adult?â/ âThis is where you impress me, right?â/ âThe floor is lava.â Â
âWill you watch Rosie tonight? Kate had to cancel at the last minute and itâs Debbieâs engagementparty. Â I love you,â Mary said, sticking out her lip and givingthe puppy dog eyes. Â Heâd only taken the video call because heâdthought it something important.
âNo, busy, have Molly do it,âhe said without glancing away from the other window as he typed hisresponse to a prospective client.
âBut I said I love you. Â We haveto leave before she can get here, itâs all the way in Croydon,âMary said.
âFine. Â But phone Molly and tellher to come here straight after work. Â Mrs. Hudsonâs on a minibreakin Blackpool with Mr. Chatterjee. Â Again.â
Mary beamed at him before ending thecall.
*
âOh, what a cutie! Â Is she yours?â
âNo, just sitting for a friend,âhe said, turning and pacing back toward the windows, patting Rosie onthe back in the vain hope of a burp that was only air this time. âNow, back to why youâre hereâŚâ
âOh!  Yes, sorry.  Well, you see,I think my stepfather is trying to kill me.  I found this in my bed,âshe said, opening the carrier bag sheâd brought and producing anempty plastic box.  "Bugger.  It was still there when I was inthe cabâŚâ
*
"Molly! Â Shut the door and get upon a chair. Â Quickly!â
âWhaâ? Â Why?â she said, pulling the door closed.
âBecause the floor is lava,âhe said sarcastically. Â "Thereâs a venomous snake loose in theflat, probably Agkistrodonpiscivorus by the clientâs description. Â Theyâresemi-aquatic and not prone to climbing, so this should be relativelysafe.â
She gave him a flat look. Â "Beserious for two minutes, please. Â You donât even have a client.â
âBecause she ran when she figuredout the snake was loose in the flat and that it actually waspoisonous. Â Now get. On. The. Chair,â he hissed, pressingRosieâs head against his shoulder and covering her ear just in casehe was louder than he thought he was being.
Finally, finally, she realized he wasbeing completely serious and clambered up on the chair next to thesofa.
He heard movement behind him, comingfrom the bookshelf; he thought it best to be on the other side of theflat just in case they could climb. Â Probably safe to walk across thefloor, considering its position, but one could never be too careful. He pushed the side table a bit closer to the desk to make bridgingthe gap to the desk easier.
âWhat are you doing?â
âFairly obvious,â he grunted, thinking he really needed to fix that wobble sometime, beforelevering himself onto the desk.
âOh my God,â Molly said, throwing her hands in the air.
âAlways knew you thought highly ofme, but thatâs really a bit much,â he said, stepping down ontothe second desk chair before preparing for the leap to the coffeetable. Â Rosie seemed to be enjoying herself at least, if all theshrieking baby-laughter in his ear was any indication.
âSo this is where you impress me,right? Â You hand me the baby and then you find the snake and wrestleit like Steve Irwin?â
âNoooo, I called a herpetologistfrom the London Zoo to come and collect it,â he said slowly. âIs it like a cartoon inside your head all the time, or is justwhen youâre with me?â
Molly scowled, then cocked her head asthey both heard the front door. Â "Wow, your friend is reallyfast. Â I mean the Zoo isnât that far, but the traffic right nowâ"
âItâs not the herpetologist, though sheâll be delighted to find a second reptile in the flat,âhe said.
âWhââ
âDonât come in!â Sherlockshouted, covering Rosieâs ear again.
Mycroft, idiotic and arrogant asalways, mistook that for an invitation to stroll right in as thoughhe were the guest of honour. Â He surveyed the room, smiling in hisstupid condescending way. Â
âOh, the lava game. Â And you lethim pull you into it, too. Â Honestly Ms. Hooper, arenât yousupposed to be the adult?â
âThereâs actually a snake on thefloor, you should, ah, probably get on a chair,â Molly said, eyeing the distance between all the raised surfaces in the room. Â Shewas going to give up her chair and try to make it to the sofa.
Mycroft rolled his eyes so hard hiseyelids fluttered, jaw going slack from the sheer tedium of his verycoexistence with mere mortals. Â Molly hopped onto the coffee table.
âNorth American swamp adder, alsoknown as a water moccasin or cottonmoââ Sherlock clarified, holding out his hand to help Molly onto the sofa.
âYes, I have taken biology, Iâmfamiliar,â Mycroft said, hauling his bulk onto the chair Mollyhad vacated.
âMm, Iâm sure. Â Wouldnât besurprised to find copies of Snake Loverâs Digest shoved underyour mattress.â
âSays the man who has a stack ofGuns & Ammo next to his bed.â
âTheyâre not next to the bed, theyâre next to the toilââ he cleared his throat and lookedaway. Â "Nevermind.â Â Really, he had nothing to be ashamedof, Molly kept the Journal of Clinical Pathology (and a fewothers) next to hers.
"Quite. Â Mother always said youâdget haemorrhoids, but you never did listen.â
âYouâre a haemorrhoid,âSherlock retorted.
âAnd youâre both setting a shiningexample for Rosie,â Molly said, giving Sherlock a Look beforeturning one on Mycroft. Â
âSheâs only five months old,âSherlock dismissed. Â "Right. Â Sorry,â he said when Mollyâslook went from âyouâre on thin ice, mister,â to 'Iâm going to startcounting in minute, do you want me to get the spoon?â
*
"Youâre not going to breathe aword of this to Mary and John,â Sherlock said after Dr. Lacertaleft the flat. Â Heâd phone Lestrade later to see about an attemptedmurder charge for the stepfather.
âAs much as I would love to seethe look on their faces when I tell them their only progeny was putin mortal peril by her Godparentsââ
âHey!â Molly interrupted.
âYou are an accessory,âSherlock reminded her, sotto voce.
âPfft, what else is new?âMolly said, throwing one hand in the air and walking back to thekitchen with Rosie. Â "Mycroft, are you staying for dinner?â
"Seeing as I know the kinds ofthings my brother keeps in there, no, but I thank you for your kindoffer,â Mycroft smiled tightly.
âA little medical waste never hurtanyone,â Molly cooed at Rosie, leaning into the fridge. Â "Well, maybe some people, but thatâs only because they donât follow properstorage and disposal procedures.â
Mycroft lifted his eyebrows. Â "Atleast this one wonât be at the centre of an international incident orcausing a sex scandal, though one involving the trafficking of humanremains isnât exactly a step up. Â Really, brother mine, your taste inwoââ
âDonât you have somewhere else tobe?â Sherlock snapped, looking nervously at Mollyâs back.
âAt the moment, no.â
âFine. Â Why are you here, anyway?â
âMummy and Daddy will be in townagain at the weekend. Â We have dinner reservations for seven onFriday.â
Molly came into the lounge with a platebalanced on one hand, keeping it well away from Rosie. Â "Are yousure I couldnât interest you in some finger food?â she asked, serving Mycroft like a cocktail waitress. Â
Sherlock bit his lip; the look onMycroftâs face was priceless. Â Sheâd put the fingers from the saladdrawer on crackers and garnished each with a half of an olive.
"Do consider a vasectomy. Â Ishudder to think of what the two of you would produce,â Mycroftsaid once heâd regained his composure.
âActually⌠ Probably going towant to change that dinner reservation from party of four to party offive,â Sherlock said, looking meaningfully at Molly.  Theyâdhave to get it out of the way sooner or later.

âOh, fuck off.â/ âDo you really think I could ever replace you?â
(Sorry, already used #29 and justcouldnât fit it in. Â I got the other two, though.)
*
âI see you have a date tonight,âSherlock said when he walked into her office. Â Not hello, oreven oh, there you are, you werenât in the lab and I got scaredfor a minute because I thought I was on the wrong floor or walkedthrough a door to a parallel universe.
âGot to get back on the horsesometime,â Molly replied, not looking up from the joyous task ofdotting Is and crossing Ts.
Sherlock was quiet; she risked a glanceup and yep, he was trying to decide if sheâd been alluding to sex. She sighed internally; sometimes she wondered how heâd made it thisfar into adulthood with that level of innocence intact.
âItâs been five months. Â And heseemed nice. Â Itâs better than spending yet another night at homealone, I can only reorganize my spice cupboard so many times.â She didnât even know why she felt like she needed to explain.
âWe were going to play Cluedotonight.â
âNo we werenât?â Â That wassomething she thought sheâd remember agreeing to.
âI texted you.â
âPretty sure you didnât.â
âI did, check your phone.â
âYou check your phone.â
âI always delete our texts.â
âRude.â Â
âSmart. Â Do you really want thenext Moriarty to know your phone number, where you work, whattoppings you like on your pizza?â
âThe first Moriarty knew allthat.â
âYes, and you got lucky.â
âSure didnât,â she mumbledunder her breath. Â She was glad she hadnât actually slept with himand sheâd been a little shaken afterwards, but she could joke aboutit now. Â "Anyway, you really didnât text me. Â You can see foryourself,â she said, digging her phone out of her pocket andhanding it to him.
He scowled while he scrolled throughtheir text history. Â "Fine. Â I thought about texting you.â
âOh, silly me, how could I nothave known that?â
âMy replacementâs name is Colm? Yech.â
âDo you really think I could everreplace you?â she asked a little sarcastically, channellingMaryâs pouty sweetness a bit. Â She didnât really want to examine howthe bite in his voice when he said âreplacementâ made her feel a bitwarm, like he was actually jealous, and not just because someone wassnatching his friend away. Â Wishful thinking, probably.
âWell youâre obviously trying. This oneâs not going to work, by the way. Â Heâs a workaholic in anon-again-off-again with a colleague, someone higher on the food chainthan he is by the look of it. Â Not worth your time.â
âDid⌠you just delete hisnumber?â  Like she even needed to ask.  Heâd wrecked herrelationship with Tom, of course he wouldnât think twice aboutdeleting someoneâs number from her phone.  Give him an inchâŚ
âFinger slipped. Â So, Cluedotonight?â
Nothing for it; he was probably rightand sheâd rather be with him anyway, even if she could really use abit of two-hand touch. Â "Holmes rules?â
âLike there are any other kind.â
âMm. Â Calvinball: The Board Game. Canât wait.â
âReal life murders are never soneat as Professor Peacock in the kitchen with the lead pipeâwell, except for the one time, that one was fairly straightforward andlacking in imaginationâbut the point stands. Â Verisimilitude.â
âItâs Professor Plum. Â And Mrs.Peacock.â
âNo, this was an actual case. Oxford, four?-ish years ago. Â It was the plumber, murder for hire.â
âAh. Â So, see you around seven?â
âSix, weâll get pizza. Â Oddlyhungry for it now that I mentioned it.â Â His eyebrows drewtogether like heâd confused himself by being swayed by the power ofhis own suggestion.
âI want pineapââ
âNo.â
âPrude.â
âI have both good taste andrespect for the elegance of plain pizza.â
âOh, fuck off, you purist. Â Ham?â
âIf we must,â he said,long-suffering.
Colm had a weird-shaped head and babyhands, anyway.
8: What secret sexual fantasy might one half of your OTP hidefrom the other?
Already did this one, but itâs a deep well from which to draw. Molly wants to try a threesome. Â Actually two, one with another manand one with another woman. Â Sheâs never had sex with a woman anddoesnât consider herself bisexual; she knows sheâd probably actuallybe a little jealous and insecure the whole time. Â But she thinks thatit might be more sensual, especially if the woman has experience.
Sherlock wants Molly to strangle him. Â Not to the point of passingout, just a little airway constriction to make things more intense. He likes the thought of her hands, small but strong as they are, wrapped around his neck, bare skin to bare skin or with nitrilegloves like she really was planning on killing him. Â He also likesthe idea of stockings. Â He knows sheâd be too afraid of actuallyhurting him and probably get angry at him for even suggesting it,though.
10: Do your OTPs use protection? What kind?
The first few times they were responsible and adult and usedcondoms (Mollyâs not big on hormonal birth control of any sort andwhat it does to her body; sheâs one of the lucky ones who experiencesall the bad side effects). Â She ran Sherlockâs bloodwork herself amillion times, she knows heâs clean; she did her own just to makesure. Â After that, well. Â She doesnât have a lot of years left in herfor having kids, and theyâre not trying, but if somethinghappens it happens. Â Â
18: What time of day are your OTP most randy?
Sherlockâs is usually most âonâ right after he wakes up (even hecanât escape the basic functions of human biology), though itâsunfortunate for Molly because he usually doesnât wake up until sheâsbeen at work for a few hours. Â It works out nicely on weekends, sinceMolly is the kind of person that needs to be up and out of bed assoon as her eyes open, so she has time to get some things finishedbefore his Highness beckons. Â She, on the other hand, likes a nice, relaxing shag before bed. Â Sex makes Sherlockâs brain more alert, soafter sheâs asleep, he gets some late-night brainwork done. Â Itmostly works out.
