Ariel is my favorite princess, but I can’t say I’ve ever felt comfortable as her. My proportions are too wide, too thick, and I feel like I don’t represent her physically, even though I can do her voice and mannerisms pretty well. I’ve been having a really rough time with my mental health lately and I hoped that cosplay would help, but it’s just made my body image even worse. I love my costumes and I love that I can use my performance skills to make people (especially kids) happy, but will I ever love my all-too human self? I’m not sure.
