Wedding Planning... Guest List Edition
In August, Andrew and I were in Galveston taking a weekend to enjoy the beach before the semester started. On that trip we stayed up late on the deck watching the tides of the ocean come onto shore.
Andrew looked over at me and said, “So, when do you want to start thinking about the wedding?” I responded by saying that we should we should probably wait until the end of the fall 2015 semester so he could get through his first semester as a grad student and I could have the school year in hand (well, as much as I can ever have the school year in hand...).
Friday night (10/23/2015), Andrew and I are standing in the kitchen and, out of no where, he says, “Would it be okay if we start talking about the wedding? I’m ready and getting kind of excited over here.” I was taken by surprise a little bit but agreed that the more time we had to plan, the better.
So, this weekend we did what any engaged couple does... We spent our Saturday night talking about the size of our wedding. We thought it might be a good idea to at least start to craft a guest list. When we know about how many people to expect, we can start to look at a venue.
Both of us have huge families (Andrew is one of 8 children and I’m one of 5 children) which also includes a lot of extended family and I think that is taking up half the guest list. Ha! ;-P Outside of family, I have intimate social circles from all of the places I’ve lived and Andrew seems to know everyone from everywhere, so we continue to work on the list!
I’m interested to see where this goes and are open to hearing from any of you about successfully making it through the planning phase of a wedding!
