Buffy and Harry: Vamping It Up
@whatslayerhandbook
It all started with a girl one night.
Okay, that was a bit cliche’d, maybe, but this girl was absolutely surrounded by vampires. She was short, she was blonde, she was cute, she was wisecracking left and right.
And she was kicking some serious vampire ass.
Harry broke into a run, dashing towards the fracas, hefting his staff and gathering his power as he moved. Taking aim, he blasted one of the bloodsuckers as it leaped for the girl from behind, sending it crashing into the wall of the nearest building hard enough to crumble the brick. It fell into the pile of trash bags and wooden pallets and sprang back to its feet, snarling, its yellow eyes gleaming hatred at him from beneath the fleshy ridges of its forehead.
“Idiot caster,” the creature growled. “I’m gonna rip your liver out through your nose. Then I’m gonna eat it.”
“Okay, sure, tough guy. I’m just gonna call ‘pants on fire’ to that one,” Harry said. His blasting rod was already in his hand.
He’d run into their kind before, these demonic vampires. They had, like most vampires, once been human, but their souls had been stripped away and replaced with demonic intelligence that integrated with their memories. They were strong, fast, insatiable, and utterly depraved.
Which was why Harry felt absolutely no hesitation in setting this one on fire with a stream of flame from his blasting rod when the creature pounced at him. It screamed and thrashed, then burst into ash.
“Hey! Looks like I was right,” he quipped, but didn’t have long to rest on his laurels. He spun to face the other vampires and gave a brief nod to the girl. “Hi there. Need a hand?”
