the first place pierre finds himself when he’s back on campus are the wide steps leading up to the school library. he would have gone in the building which smelt of must and ink, but refrains after remembering the long winded lecture he’d received about how, ‘smoking in the library is prohibited under all circumstances’. which was a shame considering it was one of his favourite spots. now he sits, cigarette perched between two of his nimble figures while admiring the scene of students before him; some in a rush and scurrying past and some dragging their feet along the floor sluggishly. he chuckles, taking a drag while he contemplates his next step in to fitting back in to this life. he’s startled back to reality when a text book thuds down on the spot next to him and he spots the back of the owner continuing on, seemingly not having had noticed. he takes a hold of the book and holds it out eagerly “hey, bud, think you dropped something!”

"Hi, I know you’ve probably heard all about it for weeks now, but this is the final chance to sign up for the Annual Weslyn Prepatory charity run this weekend. We could still do with a few more sponsors and a few more runners.” Kasey grins widely waving her clipboard and pen in the face of the person in front of her, “Come on, you know you want to! We partnered up with UNICEF this year, so it’s for a good cause!”

Dakota looked down at the stack of paper in his hands, the words on the pages making very little sense to him. It had clearly been a while since anyone had walked into the guidance counselors office and asked about scholarship information, as the woman sitting on the other side of the desk had scrambled through drawers and mumbled nonsense at him while just handing him a packet that was supposedly supposed to help him. Still, there was no way Dakota was going to be able to attend any sort of four-year university without some sort of scholarship, even if financial aid went through. Exiting the office as confused as he was when he entered it, Dakota was ready to call it a day, go home, take a nap, and forget about the whole college thing for another week or so. That was, until he saw a familiar face in the hall. “Oh, hey. Haven’t seen much of you, lately,” he greeted.
