Pets. I never had one. We (I and my younger sister) asked our parents to buy one of those little friends. But they rejected, explaining it very simple - “We can’t buy pet, because we’re often moving. Who is gonna sit with him when we’re out of home?” And that was true. Almost every weekends (I was sent there against my will all the summer and wintertime, when I had school holiday) we visited my grandparents at countryside. They had a dog, but he wasn’t true pet, sitting by the booth on a chain. Well, our talks slowed down, when at one day it died. Our dreams flew away as if it was a light spring wind. But suddenly I met her. She has one full of life dog and wisdom old cat, walking by her own more than others cats through all their life. I understand now how it would be difficult to us, my parents, to have pets at those days, looked after them. They bring love, but it’s responsibility, too. You have to understand before you decide. You have do really love them. I want to be honest: I’m glad that she has them, because even though I love pets I do not know whenever I will have one. We’re all flawed people trying to reach our own idea of perfection. . I’ve spent years being insecure, self-conscious and uncomfortable with the skin I️m in. Because of things said to me in childhood, adolescence and things I️ hear now. One day I️ decided to try to not only work on changing into who I️ want to be but to also be comfortable with who I️ am. When they say it’s not a destination, it a journey, they’re not lying. When they say it won’t be easy, and you have to put in the work, it’s all true. I️ dedicate this TBT to the childhood me that couldn’t wait to be 100lbs; to the adolescent me that got called names or picked on for something he couldn’t control; but most importantly to the future me that can look back and realize I️ had it in me to keep going. Less of a TBT and more of a “Stay the course, Taj. If no one else sees you doing it, you can see yourself.” . #WeSeeEachOther #ReactivatesDiscipline
