Illinois QB Wes Lunt ready to dig in with Lovie Smith and Garrick McGee
Wes Lunt came to Illinois in hopes of finding some stability in his college career. After transferring from Oklahoma State following his freshman season, Lunt expected to find a footing in 2014 after sitting out a year due to NCAA transfer rules, but injuries got in the way in 2014 and a late and sudden coaching changeat Illinois just days prior to kicking off the new season led to a weird seasonâŚ

Wes Lunt to return Saturday for Illinois football
by Sean Neumann | The Daily Illini |Â November 11, 2014
Wes Lunt will return for the Illini this Saturday.
The starting quarterback has missed four of the last five games since fracturing his fibula.
Illinois coach Tim Beckman said the sophomore will start Saturday against Iowa.
âI feel good,â Lunt said. âThe bone, they said itâs four-to-six weeks, but itâs healed enough to withstand hits.â
At the time of the injury, Lunt was ranked 10th in the nation in completions per game (25.4) and 14th in passing yards per game (313.8).
OâToole, Bailey will compete to replace Lunt
By Sean Neumann | Staff writer | October 7, 2014
Itâs been two of the toughest days in Tim Beckmanâs time at Illinois.
The Illini head coach learned Sunday that his starting quarterback Wes Lunt would miss four to six weeks with a fractured fibula, one day after losing a must-win game against Purdue.
Beckman said there will be competition in practice between quarterbacks Reilly OâToole and Aaron Bailey this week, although OâToole is likely to get the start against Wisconsin on Saturday.
OâToole was the starter in a 45-14 loss to Nebraska two weeks ago. The senior went 17-for-38 for 261 yards with a touchdown, but threw three interceptions.
Bailey has yet to play this season, with the Illini coaching staff hoping to have him redshirt. Luntâs injury changed those plans Sunday.
âThe opportunity we had to possibly redshirt him is not going to be able to occur now, because heâs got to help us win football games,â Beckman said.
