Wen Qing's character song (Whisper of the Woods), has the following line:
"Trapped in mud, never break free." This is probably referring to the Buddhist belief of breaking free from material attachments. This is the reason that the lotus flower is so important: it grows in the mud (material attachment) but rises above to bloom on the surface (enlightenment).
And the Jiang Clan's symbol is the nine-petaled lotus. :3
