Thinking about the idiotic, childish, libertarian view of freedom that is so prevalent in America-the belief that âfreedomâ means I get to do whatever I want, whenever I want it. That isnât freedom at all, and the evidence of that couldnât be more stark than with this anti-vax nonsense.
If my ability to do what I want infringes on the freedom of someone else, then it isnât freedom I have, itâs privilege. If the âfreedomâ to carry weapons or to refuse a vaccine are more important than the lives of the people who die because of it, in what way are the corpses free?
I know itâs a conundrum, but in a free society we not only have a right to limit the âfreedomsâ that can harm others, we actually have the responsibility to do so.
